Good evening to all magicians. My intention with this topic is to obtain assistance and help those who are starting out. Telling a little about my story, I have been studying magic for a few years, I have read some books about Umbanda (a type of magic/religion that emerged among Afro-Brazilians). And I have been a member of A.M.O.R.C for about a year, and anyone who is part of this order knows how slow it is... I feel like I have no talent for magic, and I have no one close to me to ask for the path of the stones, I study and study and I do not evolve at all. Do you have any suggestions on where to start? What books to read? YouTube channels? Any tips you can give. I thank you in advance.
I know that, for me, I had no talent either—but I also learned that it’s not me doing the magick; it’s the spirits. When I started waiting on the spirit to perform the magick, I began to feel their presence. They also choose how strongly they come through and how much they want to communicate. I believe that people don’t have power without the help of an external spirit, so it’s not your fault if you’re not evolving. The only way to evolve, in my experience, is to wait on the spirits you summon to carry out your magick. I may be wrong, but I’ve never experienced magick without their help.

Thanks for the reply. Can you tell me what kind of magic you usually practice? I thought I'd learn a little about Norse paganism, maybe start with runes.

I cannot say that you are wrong or right — or that im right and you are wrong, but i can give you my take on this with another way to evolve.
I believe you can evolve by creating a magical name for yourself in your own personal method. For me i like to use latin prefixes and words which i combine together to form what i desire to be.
NOTE That this method i created purely out my spontaneous intuition just from conversating with people on this forum. So by all means i am not an authority on discussing the use of magical names. Some will say your magical name should never be known by others, but i disregard that based on my personal beliefs.
So i will share you the name i created for myself which was very recent to me joining this forum. The name i made is "illa Initiatus" which translates to "the/that initiate." I used "illa" which is the feminine of "that/the" (ille would be male). I used "initiatus" which is the male of "initiate" (initiata would be female). "US" is male, and "A" is female
What i imply with this name by my own invented context with the context i provided above is that i am a child learning from his mother, seeking to also balance the male and feminine aspect (in the hermetic context).
So it to me becomes a character which i make by my own will, and become. Eventually i see this gradually becoming a more powerful thing with my life, and to me its a cry towards what i desire the most out of my life which is above all material desire itself. That desire is something which i cannot really put into words except vaguely as "salvation."
As for spirits i am on edge between them being independant from us or they litterally are us. This why i said i cannot disagree with you.
I also believe that questioning can lead you in a direction, but experience itself i see more important than questioning — its the embracing of "ALL that is which you are apart of." Experience is the prima materia of knowledge as it contains everything within it. Think of it like a vessel having a liquid pured into it, that liquid being "ALL that is."
Now with all that said, why do i choose to refer myself as a child with this name i made? It is because a child just wants to play and so do I. As for choosing the mother over the father, I am implying that i am focusing on the nurturing aspect of the mother now rather than father's providing and ordering aspects (which is the generally accepted thing between most cultures with the man in a family).
I hope my reply to soul traveler answered your question. You need to act not just study. You cannot evolve without action i.e. you must experience. Also do not discredit yourself in a negative way like you are failing. Its one thing to accept you do not know, but its another thing to say i dont know therefore there is no way that i can know. Take what does not work as data just like what does work as data. Both those forms of data together serve you in understanding, this is exactly why i said you must experience.
Also the other important thing i did not mention is attention or mindfulness. I know this sounds simple but all you need to do is pay more attention in tandem with experiencing. Do not look to judge what you experience, but rather just take it in — this act will be more powerful with you as you are opening the vessel (your mind). Now this will without a doubt make you evolve as it can end up redefining who you are without going through the filter of judgement. The filter of judgement limits you to whatever yours is made of.
If we look at the gurus of India with their followers, the common practice is to fully submit to the guru without questioning the guru unless you simply misunderstand the guru's command. This happens to be a very powerful thing for the disciple as they fully embrace the knowledge of the guru who was once a disciple like them.
And to add to this, i said above that the vessel is also experience. Put both these together and you get "you become what you experience."

Everything that im saying here is actually spontaneous. This is my intuition at work. My perception is that this comes from my heart. Interestingly your heart is between the lungs and is stimulated by the act of breathe. In science it was discovered that brain to heart coherence has a effect on emotions — and as we see in society emotions is what moves people to do things and evolve.
This may be something for you to study. I have a book i can recommend about a powerful breathing technique (which is also refered to as very dangerous keep that in mind, so be attentive reading about it if you choose to). The book is "Inner Fire in 7 Steps a practical guide to the ultimate meditation" by Shai Tubali.
yes, the place to start is making a vessel for your work. A vessel in the mind. A metaphorical crucible. Lacking this, in my experience, any attempts at magic default into the realm of mundane.
The crucible is fashioned from wonder. Cultivate wonder. Awe. How this happens for each individual is different, many spend time in nature. Others in an auto-repair shop. Others probing the mysteries of space-time. The manner isn't important. What's happening in the mind and heart is the most important thing.
Yes. In this modern world, teachers, good ones, are few and far between. Gratefully, the heart is an excellent guide when it is working in conjunction with the mind.
While you're reading and researching, pay close attention to how the heart reacts. A strong reaction, positive or negative, ( excitement, fear, anxiety, desire, etc... ) is an indicator that what you are reading is potentially a path for you. Then, pay attention to the mind. While probing deeper into the subject matter, does the mind settle on the concepts, or are the thoughts divergent, chaotic, and confusing? This "settling or not" is a way to describe resonance. It answers the question: "Does this topic resonate with you?" If the topic resonates with you then it's likely you have a natural talent for it.
Once you've found what resonates with you, then, you won't need a teacher. The world will be your teacher, your heart will be your guide, your mind will be the sieve. And then... you're on your merry way.
Granted, this is easier said than done, but, if you pay attention to your heart, you'll eventually find your way, your path. The heart understands before the mind. Lead with the heart, but always include the mind. They're your metaphorical wings, friend. You can do it.

To be honest, I think I've had some experiences but I'm not sure. The first was reading the initial A.M.O.R.C material that talked about telekinesis, at the time I had a girlfriend who was madly in love, to the point that just by closing my eyes I could imagine every detail about her, and she was no longer into the relationship and ignored me most of the time. I hadn't spoken to her all day, I had access to Rosa Cruz materials for the first time and I decided to test telekinesis with her to see if it worked, I just tried to make her think of me, within seconds she called me. It may have been a coincidence but it seemed real. The second one was spoken to with a person using a fake Facebook profile, with a fake name and a fake photo, I asked if magic was real, and he said yes, and manipulated my chakras, it was a very interesting experience. And the last one was thanks to this group, I looked at that extensive A.M.O.R.C material and went straight to the end, I found one of the last oaths (I don't remember very well, but I think it was before the Illuminati session) I felt such a strong energy that I got scared, I didn't accept anything, I just told the energy that I wasn't ready yet because I didn't know what I was getting myself into.
About chakras, the eariliest clear depiction of them comes for the upanishads ( they were vedic writers and the buddah that started buddhism was an upanishad). Before this it was the Rishis (eariliest vedic writers) who conceptionalized this first but it was not as clear cut as the system(s) we are used to seeing today.
My viewpoint on them is that they are merely a tool not a literal thing and there is in fact more than one school of thought for chakra systems in eastern culture with more or less chakra points. This is not to say this is a useless thing, it definitely has use with helping visualize a process during a meditation. To make it clear I do not know if im right by my viewpoint but the idea of a energy channel though seems like a thing that can be literal.
Fear is such a natural thing, it usually comes from uncertainty as you had described. Overcoming fear in my view depends on how you talk to yourself and your current belief system. Maybe you could just be jumping in too fast with something not being properily initiated. What i mean by that is having a conceptionalization of what comes next dependant on the aquired experience in your craft with less intense things which you are definitely prepared for.
Its one thing to be hungry for more for something which is not neccessarily bad on its own, but it can be detrimental in excess were you end up making leap into the wrong direction. I would say you made the right choice, you listened to yourself, you were not ready and thats something you should be proud of as you are listening to yourself. I have great respect for attention like that, that to me does not sound like failure but a step back to take rest before moving forward.
Welcome friend! I understand the no talent for magic part! I had to spend years and years studying and training my intuition as I was quite "dull" when I started my journey. It has been a long road but I am here to tell you it can be done!
My partner is a natural and refuses to believe I'm not, I have to tell her all the time that I started with absolutely no sensitivity and had to work really hard to get to a point where I could associate with spirits and had a developed clairvoyant/intuitive faculty.
Lots of people will try to gatekeep people like us or will try to undermine the effort we put into our practice through study and training but do not let them discourage you. Keep studying but also develop intuitive practice! Study is important for people like us, but training our intuition involves practicing skills like scrying, tarot, dream Journaling, and meditation. You might require more effort than most (I certainly did) but I can tell you that working hard for your magic pays off in the long run. Good luck my friend, do not be discouraged, it might take some years but those years will pass in no time. Persistent practice and regular study to develop your magic will take you to amazing heights. Don't rely solely on study though.

I can simplify this all with one affirmation which is "I will make it so."
Or you can say combination of things to yourself relating to the context of that first affirmation like "it will happen by my will" "I will do what i wish to do" "by my will i will overcome all fear" "by my will my will is going to always grow in power" "my will is strong"
These are just suggestions but its best to make your own affrimations as only you know what words can effect you the most in a positive way towards your goals. Pay attention to the words which make you happy, inspired, angry, upset, etc. Once you know what they are, use them for yourself. Look at them as personal words of power local only to you.
I cannot express how powerful this is, its like a powerful mantra which you create without any diety's or guru's guidance. You are your own diety at this point. Know the power you possess which may be unrealized at the moment.
And thats the end of my pep talk. Hope you enjoyed lol.
