Greetings.

For the last year and a half I have been working on recovering, translating and modernizing the obscure Book of Causes attributed to Apollonios of Tyana. It went by many other names as well in the past, and it is the original document where the first account of the Emerald Tablet was extracted from.

The translation is complete, the modernization of archaic terms and grammar/structure corrections have been made. The Arab scribes insertions and commentaries have been extracted and delivered at the end of the Work, as "The Scribes Essay" . A self proclaimed "Master from Nablus"...

The original theory and teachings are purely Apollonian, I have studied the magic of Apollonios for years, I know his voice very well.

I have done my best to deliver the dense and ciphered alchemical language in the document as I was editing, I also did make sure not to change anything from the core theory and teachings. Every single thing is intact, and edited by someone who loves and understands the Art that is discussed.

The book is a book of creations and how things came to be: Stones, Plants, Planets, Stars, Animals, Humans and Spirits

You can certainly tell it was part of a larger corpus of books, and this was one of the first works of his writings. The Book of Causes does not give step by step rituals, but it gives the theory. All things work through the four natures- hot, cold, wet, dry, and through the bonds of sympathy and antipathy. The text teaches you to see the structure.

This specific text is not a memoir; it is a manual. It does not tell you how he attained power; it teaches you what the power is and how it came to be. The method is there, in the discourses on the four natures, on the circulation of the elements, on the descent into the pit and the ascent to the light. He quite literally laid the cards on the table....

But you have to learn to read them, the book even after my efforts of clarifying the density, is still a cryptic alchemical text, and I would need other experts to help decipher it totally.... The book is the key, and perhaps the beginning of a beautiful journey for us all.

It will be fully published soon, digital and physical form, and I would like anyone interested here who is serious about this, to help me decipher it fully

Thank you for your time.

This sounds interesting. What manuscript did you translate it from?
The translation was made from the Arabic manuscript Sirr al-khalīqa (Secret of Creation), preserved in Syrian university archives. Apollonios would have called it, Περὶ Αἰτιῶν (Peri Aitiōn) - I extracted the core Apollonian teaching from the scribal additions, it was quite the task and I still think it isn't perfect, but certainly good enough for peer review.

It is through and through a Hermetic text. Philosophy and Theurgy is my expertise, and I also happen to be a practicing Alchemist that speaks Greek and Arabic... so this felt like an obvious task to try and tackle. I look forward to sharing it soon

This is so cool. I've been interested in Apollonius of Tyana ever since I first came across the name in Dogma and Ritual of High Magic.
