Thoughts on this Hoodoo spell

This spell is used to banish spirits and/or any negative energies, requires 4 metal plates or stone for each room that I want cleansed, which I'm just going to use my incense burner as its the only thing for me that is currently available, don't see the need to spend more money.

Burning a teaspoon of sulfur should be more than enough? Seems like overkill for me but from what I read in Hoodoo books its pretty much the answer if you want things out and gone for good. I live with people that would be completely annoyed if they smell it, especially during midnight as this is when the spell must be done.

So my question is, one incense burner and a teaspoon of sulfur should be enough?

Regarding housemates, if they'd already be annoyed by the scent of normal incense then the pungency and irritations from Sulphur Dioxide could make their annoyance and any existing health issues worse.

This makes me think it is based on Hebrew demon bowls. These were 4 bowls, inscribed with a spell, that were buried upside down in / outside the corners of your house. The demon was (is) attracted to it and then can't get out from under it.
From what I know sulphur indeed is one of the things that basically every conjure/hoodoo spell seems to need. Probably because it was (is?) so readily available in the US.
The main thing (in my opinion) is that you cover the whole area - that's why you use 4 plates / bowls around your home. For sulphur I really can't say. If I were you I'd simply use white sage or dragon's blood incense.

They're ok with other incenses, sulfur smells like shit though, right. And isn't the same like other incenses.

What I'm saying is, burning more than is required might be unnecessary since sulfur is possibly potent enough in just a small amount.

Yeah, possibly could be I guess there's no way of doing half way with the spell or switch to different ingredients to avoid troubling anyone else, which probably means that I need to find something else.

I'm suppose to address the four lwa, Granbois, Baron Carrefour, Baron Cimitiere and Damballah while doing it.

You could use sulfur strips they use to disinfect and prevent the formation of vinegar build-up wine barrels. What you could do is light a strip and extinguish it as soon as you feel that it has taken effect which makes the smell more controllable and is less messy if you want to keep your incense burner clean.

If you burn a whole teaspoon of sulfur indoors, it's possible that you could die and certain that nobody will ever want to inhabitant that building again until they remove all the floors and drywall.

...a teaspoon of sulfur should be enough?
No.
As others have already noted - this is not only excessive, but in an enclosed space will certainly be harmful, and potentially be lethal.

If you really have to use sulfur indoors - I'd suggest that you do a test run with an open window - to let it vent, and an unobstructed path to the door - so you can leave quickly if it becomes overwhelming. I'd also suggest you first try this with just a pinch of sulfur - so you can see exactly how hard it is to breathe in a cloud of sulfur dioxide vapor, and how persistent the smell is going to be.

It looked like OP moved on ... to an alternative. Hopefully.

The thought of that much burning sulphur brought to mind the filmmakers of Samsara discussing the clouds of acid with the volcanic sulphur mines scene. Thought for OP it would probably not be lethal if after placing it they didn't take it directly to the face while inhaling. With roommates being considered thought they'd be doing it by a window that is venting out. Exit strategies planned.

"...nothing bad has ever happened from burning hydrogen."

I knew Sulfur was dangerous just didn't know how extreme it could be, Thanks for letting me know!

Yeah it has be done indoors, its a cleansing spell to get rid of negative energies, spirits and all that nastiness etc.

Right, a pinch should be fine and I'll try it when I get my hands on some sulfur, I think I'll see about mixing it with other things, herbs and resins.

I honestly might be going ahead with it, I'm just going to make sure I plan things out correctly.

The problem is that sometimes the wind blows in and it drags smells in and around the house so its something that I really need to think about, another option would be to get a fan and then turn it on after a couple of moments.

The problem is that ...
... the gas resulting from burning sulfur becomes sulfuric acid when it contacts water inside your lungs. It will also do that when it contacts any moisture in the building, basically like spraying battery acid all over the room.

If you want the same smell without burning the sulfur, go to a stage magic ship and get a stink bomb.

Again, I recommend those sulfur strips I mentioned which they use for preventing vinegar build-up in wine barrels. My dad took up wine-making as a hobby for some time, and I would sometimes watch how he put those strips on small wire hooks, set them on fire and hung them from the holes on top of the barrels until they burned themselves out. It was a cramped poorly ventilated little cellar, definitely smaller than an average living room. Those burning strips stank but the sulfur didn't affect us in any way. Those strips are probably your safest bet when it comes to using sulfur for a spell.

I had to look those up, but yes they do appear to be a good solution - most places seem to advertise them as non-drip, so they shouldn't be too messy, and the youtube videos show them burning by themselves after being lit with a standard lighter - so no need for charcoal disks, just a heat-proof container/stand.
I'd still cut a small piece off the end rather than burning a whole one, but they look like they would be a better option than powdered or crystalized sulfur.
