Maybe I'm going too fast, but do you guys have any tips on how to summon future magical self/High Guardian Angel?

I tried to contact him, but then he said I should burn my dream catcher ( I had that since I was 4 years old) and I am not sure if I really should do that.

Honestly, maybe it's symbolic about letting go of your old self and paving the way for the new. If you aren't ready or it's sentimental or doesn't feel right then don't do it.

I think the HGA and getting in touch with it is usually viewed as a stage in a process of a journey and I don't think there is some ritual that can successfully contact them. I think I have a lot of trust issues with my HGA which I need to work on, I don't know, I want to remain pure heart and what I'm most afraid of is losing my empathy and compassion and I sometimes perceive my HGA does things which aren't beneficial to my own development.

My goal may not be the same as the typical magician in connecting with the divine because I do have an attachment to my purity of heart and compassion and I'm going to let myself lose that. I don't want to lose myself.

The reason why I dove into the LHP is because I sometimes I perceive that the closer you get to God, the less understanding you get for other humans being further seperated from them, and that may not be my goal or path.

It's just something to consider if you HGA feels unsympathetic or lacks understanding.

You are not going "too fast". In fact, this Work cannot begin quickly enough but you must understand that the biggest obstacle to your attainment of the Future Self is you. False identities, phantasmata, belief in external definitions, wanting to be seen in a particular way by others, all of this has got to go, all of this has got to be dissolved. When the horses have been brought to heel, the Master will give the direction of travel.

. That will provide you with some understanding of what this Work looks like and what kinds of preparatory conscious states will come into play. The Newcomb book 21st Century Mage (available in the library here on WF) will provide some fairly simple rituals that you can test out too.

The attainment of one's HGA is just about the most intimate thing a magician can attempt to achieve in my opinion and will lead everybody down their own personal path, there are really no hard-and-fast rules, and you may discover your own methods best suited to yourself. There are many books in the Library about the HGA, but I like especially this one:

Deceptively simple but when you work the Protocols really in-depth (and be prepared for months and years of those seemingly casual exercises), you might get to know yourself pretty thoroughly.

About your HGA telling you to burn your dreamcatcher:

What can happen at best is that the pattern created via the ritual actions creates an open door for contact and any other being that feels like it will step in and chat away happily with you.

The author is a bit paranoid when it comes to spirits purporting to be someone else but she may be right in your case.

Strongly agree with the recs for Magical Destiny and 21st Century Mage - and David Shoemaker.

This is based on what I've read, which is a tonne, but I don't have contact with my HGA, so don't treat me as an authority.

Shoemaker's recently released Way of the Will talks about it like the process of making a talisman: purify and consecrate. But you are the talisman that will hold the energies of your HGA.

"Purification" doesn't mean anything Christian, but just basically "getting your shit together". A lot of the preliminary stuff seems to be around that. If you're doing anything obviously unhealthy, stop doing that. Exercise, eat decently, don't get involved in drama. Do some equivalent of therapy (ie, it can just be journalling and self-reflection). If you lose you temper easily, work on that. If you are a people-pleaser, work on that. Try to figure out why you make the mistakes you do, and begin chipping away at the source. Frater Acher says something similar in "The Everyday Path to your Holy Guardian Angel".

You probably know, to a degree, what you look like when you're being "your best self". It doesn't have to mean you do nothing but pray and do rituals. The best version of you might be someone who's a great friend - in that case socialising with real friends would be pure for you. One of the greatest joys in my life is reading SciFi and Fantasy fiction, and I simply do not believe that any entity that knew me and loved me would want me to stop doing that. If you don't know when you're at your best, that's fine too. You still probably have some clear ideas of when you're NOT being your best self.

My belief is that you don't have to have everything perfect, you just have to be taking responsibility. So for example, in financial terms, you don't have to be debt free! But you shouldn't have bank accounts you're too scared to look at because you don't know what the number will be. You should have oversight and control of your choices, and a plan, even if it's a very long way from being completed. You don't have to have a super-fit athletic body, but you do need to take care of it with some exercise (unless you have a physical job) and half-decent food - you're inviting your HGA to live there, after all.

This all happens alongside the invocations etc, you don't have to wait until you have your shit together before attempting K&C! But one of the steps of invocation does seem to be, begin the process of sorting your life out.

That's purification. Consecration is the invoking of the HGA and dedicating yourself to it.

On the importance of devotion, being able to fall in love with your HGA, or wishing it was around so you could fall in love with it:
Any excuse you have for practicing the muscles of invocation will help you in your path toward K&C. This is something available to you every day if you're doing Liber Resh, for example. Four times a day, you have a chance to invoke an aspect of deity,

“Invoking often” gives us practice with those muscles we will eventually need to use in a very directed and specific way with the HGA. Inflaming oneself in prayer involves a related set of devotional tools for firing up our ecstasy—also essential muscles for the greater work of K&C. In everyday practice, you can practice this by focusing on the awesome power and magnitude of the Archangels of the Lesser Ritual of the Pentagram, or the Kether-point in its Qabalistic Cross section.

Any time you can dive deeper into devotion during a ritual or practice, it will help. Fall in love with the entities you are interacting with, and even with the idea of such entities. When you have trained yourself to make a concept as sexy as hell, and that in turn fires up your religious devotion, you're on the right track.

Our strivings for beauty in our lives, our drive to be enraptured in the things and the people we love— all of these are glimmers of the Angel as well.

The positive side of the possibly-depressing first section is: any steps you take to improve your life ARE steps towards your HGA.

And in fact, the more you can see them that way, the better. Shoemaker and a writer called Anton Kruger both recommend thinking of that anytime you do anything - "I'm going to work to earn money so I have free time that I can spend working towards my HGA". "I'm eating this food to fortify my body so I can use it to help me attain my True Will". "I am cleaning my house because I think more clearly when there's less clutter, and clearer thinking brings me closer to my HGA"

I've listened to every episode of Living Thelema several times. The Book is Great as well.

21st Century Mage is also high on my Amazon Wishlist.

As for OP there are many different ways to start trying to make HGA contact and they will probably be a little different for everyone in what actually works.

I'm trying to obtain the initial Vision myself while preparing to perform my own version of Liber Samekh.

In the meantime I've constructed my own Daily Adoration and Supplication from various sources.

But as others have said some of the places to start would be...

21st Century Mage

Helios Unbound (Pagan Method)

Living Thelema (The Book has a version of LIber Samekh I believe)

The Magick of Aleister Crowley by Lon Milo Duquette has one of the Better Ritual guides for Liber Samekh as an HGA Invocation as it adds in everything from the commentaries like incorporating the Enochian Elemental Sigils for this version of a SIRP/GIRP.

Another great version you can find on the Digital Ambler listed as the 'Headless Rite'. It's closer to the PGM version with modifications to use it for K&C of the HGA.

Some people have also made contact with using the GIRH for the Sun/Tipareth which just so happens to be the most complicated version as you trace all the Planetary Hexagrams in one ritual so it would be of use to begin learning all the Hexagram rituals.

In the end though you will probably end up using your own personal method that differs from everyone else in some way.

Man so, this made so much sense when I read Living Thelema. I mean, not that it DIDN'T make sense before, but it made SO much sense, why it's something you construct yourself. I really intensely think you should read Way of the Will. It's a deepening and extension of the ideas in Living Thelema. I only bought it for his mini-memoir on his own K&C, but then every other section I opened - they have kind of boring titles but the content is excellent and aligns with a lot of what I've been learning in therapy - connections I'd already making between that and magical practice. Eg the relationship between the Nephesh and the Ruach. WAIT I just went and looked at the podcast and the Qabalistic Psychology parts 1-4 are clearly Chapter 2 in Way of the Will, so nvm. I'm lowering the intensity of my recommendation if you've already listened to that.

here's the ToC

PART ONE: Qabalah, the Path of Initiation, and the Life Within
CHAPTER 1: Advice from the Tree of Life
CHAPTER 2: Qabalistic Psychology in the New Aeon
CHAPTER 3: On the Nature of Evil and the Shadow Side of the Magician
CHAPTER 4: Saturn and Jupiter in the Life of a Thelemite
CHAPTER 5: The Ordeals of the Grades of A∴A∴
CHAPTER 6: Creativity CHAPTER 7: The Worship of Nuit

PART TWO: Thelemic Practice in Detail
CHAPTER 8: Advanced Thelemic Meditations
CHAPTER 9: Creating Effective Magical Invocations
CHAPTER 10: The Magick of the Gnostic Mass
CHAPTER 11: The Golden Dawn Tradition in Modern Thelema
CHAPTER 12: Healing
CHAPTER 13: Finding a Teacher and Finding a School CHAPTER
CHAPTER 14: The Knowledge and Conversation of the Holy Guardian Angel: A Personal Memoir
