Greetings, i have a question for those practicing evocation. Do you always evoke the spirit into the triangle outside the circle? Or do you evoke the spirit only outside the circle?

I used to switch it up depending my mood or general feeling about it. When i first made a triangle the way it is described, I hated how it looked and (therefore..) hated using it.
Later i made one like Rufus Opus' table of practice which turned out pretty good. In the calling of the Goetia I first did 4 days without and the fifth day with the triangle (per spirit). It seemed to me like they were much more "yeah yeah whatever" when i didn't use the triangle.
I redesigned it with a Sumerian interpretation of the words (an-na-pag-se-tun for example) and now use that all the time in each evocation. Feels really good to me because of the meaning of the words (in that interpretation..).
I also recently made a thread here with (what I believe to be) a good Hebrew interpretation of the words.
Something that came to my mind recently:
Michael is on the Triangle because he reigns in the current period. In Grimorium Verum you are instructed to make a magic mirror with the name Anael on it. Because Anael reigned during the time when the GV was (supposedly) written.
In Sumerian i wrote it as ME (being) KA (gate) IL (raise).
Love it!
I will evoke the spirit Zepar outside, i can always command a spirit into the triangle if he obey not and starts making chaos, what do you think? @Yazata

They say somewhere in the Lesser Key to "command him into the triangle". The thing is of course, if you can command him to do that (after evoking) you can do anything else as well right?
I have done it by placing the seal in the triangle after opening it.

What I mean is (I maybe don't fully understand it) when they say "command him into the circle".
If the magician evokes the spirit outside of the triangle and then can command it to go into the triangle then what's the point of the triangle to begin with (if the spirit already obeys then there's no need for the triangle, and if the spirit doesn't obey then it won't go into the triangle)
It's a puzzle

I didn't use a circle for a very long time, but I always wanted one. After I made one, I noticed a distinct change in my awareness that has proven useful. The sense of a boundary amplifies my sphere of awareness as to what is outside.
For my first evocation ever all I had was a basic mirror, which I surrounded with a circle of salt. The daimon seemed to poke fun at me and asked what I planned to do with the salt when it was time to clean up. When I did make a triangle I found it had a protective value all it's own, but it's also kind of creepy cool in that it attains a life of its own.

I had never considered this, but it is food for thought. I did one time work out Trithemius's plan of the angelic period, I was so proud of myself. I read the intro of the GV at least, and am already familiar with some aspects from much more abridged versions. Deeper study is on the list, after this and that, you know how it goes...

I ordered the book of oberon, there is a chapter how to command/get them into the triangle, looking forward for that book

@Yazata Hello, gz for moderator, happy for you!
I do want your opinion on this mentality: Some should be in the triangle from the beggining to end cuz of their nature and such, but….what about other ones like Bune?
Bune was not needed in the Triangle to get the job done, only outside the circle.
I respect Bune for his help ofcourse, but i wouldnt hesitate to command them into the triangle if needed.
It would be wise to evoke Beleth into the Triangle, but Vasago good nature from What ive heard, so no need for triangle, yet some use it for all spirits.
I can only say that when I did the Goetia year, i called each one 5 days in a row: 4 days without a Triangle and the 5th in the Triangle. With some there definitely was a difference - Furfur for example more or less said that he had lied previously.
A Triangle can simply be three tea lights, or incense sticks, or stones.

Yes it is a good idea because some like to lie, some like to mix the truth and lie to frustrate the exorcist. Been years since i did an evocation since i’m not in need of anything thank God.
