[Help] Trying to Contact Dantalion — Looking for Guidance

Hi everyone,

I’m completely new to occultism, so I hope you don’t mind me sharing my situation and asking for some guidance.

Last year, my girlfriend of 14 years broke up with me, and honestly, it completely destroyed my self-esteem. It’s been about a year now, and I’ve been trying really hard to change myself and move forward.

I’ve changed a lot of things in my life. I started waking up earlier and going for walks, changed my diet and went from 3XL to L, started going out more and trying to meet new people, and generally tried to become a better version of myself.

The problem is that, despite all of that, I still can’t get her out of my head. I feel like I’ve changed many things on the outside, but mentally I’m still stuck in the same place.

A while ago, I randomly came across a reel where someone was talking about demons and how they could supposedly help people with different aspects of their lives. I’ve always had the mindset of “where there’s smoke, there’s fire,” so I started wondering why some wealthy or successful people supposedly perform rituals and work with these entities, and thought: why not give it a try myself?

Without really knowing what I was doing, I basically asked Lucifer to help me find a demon who could help me with my situation. The very next random reel I saw was about Dantalion.

That caught my attention, so I started researching Dantalion and found that he is traditionally associated with thoughts, emotions, knowledge, and the mind. That immediately made me interested because my biggest struggle right now is my own mind.

I’m not trying to control or manipulate my ex. I want to change the way I think about myself, rebuild my confidence, let go of the past, and stop being mentally stuck on someone who is no longer in my life.

I’ve started trying to meditate and work with Dantalion, but I honestly have no idea if I’m doing any of this correctly — or even if he is actually hearing me.

When I use his enn and try to meditate, sometimes I feel an extremely heavy sensation in my chest. I’ve also made offerings during these attempts.

There was one experience that really caught my attention. One night, after what I would describe as a meditation/ritual, I went into my kitchen around 3 AM and there was a wasp inside my house. It flew towards me, landed near/on me, and then simply went on its way without stinging me. I had never seen a wasp inside my house before, let alone at 3 AM, and the whole thing felt extremely strange to me.

I’m not saying that the wasp was definitely a sign from Dantalion. I genuinely don’t know. It could have been nothing more than a coincidence. But experiences like this have made me wonder whether I’m actually being heard, while at the same time I have absolutely no idea how I’m supposed to receive an answer.

And that’s really the reason I’m making this post.

I feel like I need some direction. On one hand, I sometimes feel like something is happening and that Dantalion may be listening. On the other hand, I don’t hear anything, see anything, or receive anything that I can confidently interpret as communication from him.

So I’m basically stuck wondering: What am I actually supposed to do? How do I know if I’m making contact? How do people distinguish genuine communication from their own thoughts, expectations, or coincidences?

I’m not expecting anyone — human or otherwise — to magically fix my life for me. I know I still have to do the work myself. I’m just looking for some guidance and a direction to follow because I’m completely new to this.

If anyone here has experience working with Dantalion, I’d really appreciate hearing how you started, what your practice looked like in the beginning, and what resources you would recommend to someone in my position.

I've never found demons in particular to have a good benefit to cost ratio. They are by far the most dangerous among spirits, not uncommonly deceptive or straight-up malicious.

I confirm contact a variety of ways. I ask for a very clear sign in my petitions, I use a form of divination of my choice (I use tarot other people use things like scrying). You just have to keep trying different methods and see what works in my experience.

Using a demon to forget a girl is like using a cannon to shoot a sparrow, or an atomic bomb to demolish a hut. It would be much easier and safer for you to turn to your guardian angel, or to the spirits of your ancestors, and ask them to help you with your problem.

Get this book "Goetia Pathworking: Magickal Results from The 72 Demons" by Corwin Hargrove. Fast read.

It will teach you how to contact and do a spell with a demon with 0 skill in magick or meditation, the method is very easy and has always worked for me.

You won't be talking to the spirit, you will just tell him what to do and that's it. And Dantalion was pretty easy for me to contact anyway. Good luck!

Do not listen to those who tell you to not work with Goetic spirits for whatever reason, in fact they are very fast and easier to contact. I never had problems with them. I only had problems with the so-called "angels".

For beginner witches, my first advice is to work on your psychic senses. Find out which psychic sense comes naturally to you and develop it. Try incorporating that sense into your rituals.For example, if you are clairaudient, try meditating and focusing on the sounds you perceive around you during the ritual. If you are clairvoyant, try entering a light, relaxed state of sleep or trance during the ritual process.This can help a lot with communication with entities because, basically, they may be present, but if you can't perceive or communicate with them, the experience can feel like one-sided communication and a waste of time.

The enn was playing in the background, then I took out a piece of paper and wrote down what I was asking for his assistance with (I addressed him as Duke Dantalion), then at the end I wrote down what I would offer as thanks (e.g. listening to the enn, lighting a candle, salted peanuts with a little honey, a glass of sweet, full-bodied red wine, dark chocolate, sweet sparkling wine, aged cheese, pieces of aged ham, for example), and also when I would see the change:

You can do all of this in a ritual as well - by casting a circle. Practitioners today do not necessarily perform a “traditional ritual”, but this separates your everyday space for making contact and maintaining contact. You can imagine it like when you invite a guest and prepare for them. You offer them a place, a drink, and food.

Nothing “extra”: I draw the circle and take my place. If I “evoke” him, then I put the incense and the candles into the triangle of manifestation, and I prepare with a notebook and a pen, and there I write down what I am asking for cooperation with.

The area of the circle can be treated beforehand with salt or salt water, and afterwards as well. Safety comes first, and if you are already experienced, it can be omitted, but safety, in my opinion, is important enough so that the contact can be established as specifically as possible - because little masked buddies can come too.
