Anyone who has been around Western occultism for any length of time is familiar with the idea of the Holy Guardian Angel, and the importance that has traditionally been placed on gaining communication with it. Various approaches have been taken, most famously the lengthy ritual given in the Book of Abramelin. Even outside of occultism, among both ancient and modern day religious / spiritual folks one will find those that believe in a guardian angel (and sometimes a devil on the other shoulder).
Anyone familiar with the left hand path knows that frequently Abrahamic (especially Christian) symbolism has been inverted in practice and philosophy. Black flame (in place of white light), inverted crosses, black masses, indulgence (in place of abstinance), reversed or inverted trees of life, etc etc. For some this inversion is just psychodrama, but others hold it as representing real (or at least effective) blueprints (particularly the alternate or additional trees).
All that to ask, has anyone attempted, or run across mention in a book, contacting one's "inner devil" for lack of a better term?
