Korean War ? Not another one ! (after WWII ) . 'We' needed to stop the spread of Communism ! ... Oh no, now Vietnam . Another 'whack a mole' war trying to stop the spread of communism .

Oh crap, now the Philippines ? We dont want yet another of these SE Asian wars . But US interests are big there and communism is spreading . Bands of revolutionaries are threatening to kill villagers if they dont join them . And now (1954 ) .... a big group of ( Hukbalahak rebel ) commies is hiding out ion the jungle , about to make a move on an area and 'recruit' soldiers . Send troupes ... air strikes ..... nah ; what's the CIA got to say ? Can they change things with 'covert operations ' ?

Enter the Vampire Aswang . A local female variety that starts off as a beautiful woman but she will kill you and drink your blood .

CIA finds out about this and starts spreading fear and gossip in the area . After a while they nab one of the rebels, kill him , hang him upside down and put two big puncture marks in his jugular vein, drain the blood out and leave him dead on the path . The other rebels go looking for the missing guy , find him and a panic sets in - these guys are familiar with the myths and stories . Eventually they leave , but also word gets out that the vampires dont like the Hukbalahak ( as no other villagers got attacked ) so no one wants to join them anymore and eventually the whole thing dies down and is disbanded .

And another war in the area is avoided and the Philippines avoids a takeover .
