Hi. I'm planning to do blood magic for the first time soon, just trying to get all the information I can before I do it.

Is there anything I should know before? I see so much stigma around it; I don't want to do anything wrong and mess myself up 😭

There are 2 good topics about blood magic already, there was open minded talk there. I should make a start over there, you can find ut with the search function. Kate Freuler did write a book about it: of blood and bones. I think Orbis Mystica did write a book about this subject also, but I don't have the title on top of my mind now and I am foruming on my smartphone right now. It is for sure an interesting field of experience.

Before doing anything this powerful, make sure you have all of your basics covered. Cleansing, mental mindset, proper energy, protection, the ritual chamber... anything you can think of. Consider this the big event and you have to have all of the foundations in place for it.

Definitely take the advice to not dive into it without a strong foundation. And just in case your plan is to draw blood the old fashioned way: I can't speak much on the techniques for blood magic, but as someone who has to take injected medication, this is the rundown for jabbing yourself without risking infection or worse-

Sterilization and proper tools are extremely important if you intend to break skin. Use alcohol prep pads to clean both the tool and the spot on your body where you're drawing beforehand. Whatever tool you're using to draw blood needs to be made of either titanium or surgical steel, those are the only two metals widely accepted as safe for puncturing the body. A thin needle is safer than a blade, and stick to drawing from spots that have a thick subcutaneous layer of fat between the skin and muscle. Looking up "subcutaneous injection sites" will get you a map of the places where you're least likely to cause yourself injury. After taking blood, apply pressure to the spot with an alcohol prep pad until it stops bleeding.

I'd also recommend not reusing the same tool, since even ones made of the proper metals will break down over time. Also good to note that if you're throwing them out after use, they legally have to be put in a hard plastic container and taken to a sharps disposal facility.

I mean what will you be doing with the blood? What are you trying to achieve? I’ve done plenty of rituals with blood involved but always felt the term “blood magic” was unnecessarily vague and edgy.

For instance, I’ve worked with entities that I paid in my blood for successful results. In which case, have a clear agreement with what you want, what success looks like, and what the payment will be.

On logistics, ritual box that contains the instrument I’ll be using and utilize a lighter before and after to keep it sterile. Not medical profession approved but years and years ago I worked in a biology lab and it worked fine there to control any contaminations so I’ve always just relied on that method.
