Been doing the middle pillar ritual from just 2 days now but I feel so sleepy afterwards. Anyone else experienced something similar?
At first the Middle Pillar, like other practices or rituals, made me sleepy. I think it's just the vibration of your voice and the visualizations that relax your mind. I've had that experience with meditation, too. In every case, I've moved past it, as it were. Once my brain gets used to the particular practice I'm focusing on, I'm able to stay focused during it, and also I feel more refreshed afterward.

After a few months of daily practice, I continue feeling that way. In itself, the practice doesn't seem to be producing any direct effect. However, the experience of being with each of the sephiroth in my body has been so enlightening. I've been enjoying the process!

Can someone give context on what the middle pillar ritual is? I have not gotten to this topic yet.

If you look at the Qabalistic tree of life, it contains 10 sephiroth plus 1 hidden one (da'ath, knowing). Each of these sephiroth is associated with a body part.

In the middle pillar ritual, you focus on the central pillar of the Tree of Life and vibrate the sacred names associated with each sephira, starting from Kether and finishing with Malkuth. There is a bit more visualization going on, but this is the basic gist of it. Consider this an alternative to chakras.

Kether is located at the top of the head (just like the crown chakra). Da'ath is in your throat (just like the throat chakra); Tiphereth is in the solar plexus area; Yesod is at the perineum (just like the root chakra). Malkuth is where your feet are.

Yes but energy is being circulated in the body as well.

That's... a bit more complicated. You are meant to do the Qabalistic Cross (the complete version) afterwards to absorb the energy, but remember, this is just the middle pillar; there is a complete version of this ritual as well.

That was more complicated but most versions of the Middle Pillar explicitly include the "exterior" circulation down the left side to the feet, up the right side and then the front and back circulation. Of course you don't have to do that but it seems that the minimum complete practice does include the circulation.

I always "exude" for lack of a better word, my energy around me. Side to side, and then front to back. After that feet to head, and let it "explode" out the top and rain down around me. MPR is a very strong ritual.

But also, I have and do fall asleep often during it. Most likely due to life style choices. I am over worked and tired a lot. But when doing this type of "work," if I fall asleep, when I come back to reality, I always know where I was in the ritual.

I used to use Middle Pillar during a time of extreme stress. It kept me calm and focused, so it's easy to imagine it making someone sleepy.

Thank you, this helps a lot.
I had been trying to get into Kabbalah lately but realized I dont actually know much about it so I dont want to practice it until I have a basic knowledge of how it works.

Find a copy of "The Art of True Healing" by Israel Regardie. It's one of the best explanations of the ritual and you don't need to learn a bunch of theory to do it first.
