Hi guest! As you can see, the new Wizard Forums has been revived, and we are glad to have you visiting our site! However, it would be really helpful, both to you and us, if you registered on our website! Registering allows you to see all posts, and make posts yourself, which would be great if you could share your knowledge and opinions with us! You could also make posts to ask questions!
I understand that most of you likely don't practice or study just one type magick, therefore the following list of choices is non-exhaustive, feel free to add your type of wizardry that defines you in your reply if not listed here.
If there are multiple choices applicable to you, select one that is your primary (feel free to share secondary as well), also please tell us more about how you approach it, e.g is it:
study focused
practice focused
commercial or advertising focused etc.
And most importantly, what do you like about it, why do you consider it more relevant to you than other types.
Tell us also about your ambitions and your end goals if you have any.
Here goes the list
Necromancy
Chaos magick
Elemental magick
Green magick (herbalism)
Divination
Witchcraft
Folk magick
High magick
Blood magic
Shadow magick
Sex magick
Enchantment magick
To answer first (and to be honest), I'm not much into any particular one however I'm serious about studying herbalism.
I'm aiming at establishing my own pharmacy for personal use one day, a hobby of sort.
I'm consider it more relevant than other because I'm able to interact with physical things (herbs) that have physical effect.
My secondary that I'm currently willing to study more about is elemental magick.
Seriously starting to think about how to win friends and influence people. This for the sake of gaining allies in cultural warfare, or at least a sense of security.
Though to be honest it has a weird ascetic vibe to me. I wonder if it will hurt, but I would like to start my training.
the ars goetia dont like the dark side. They hate dark power. In general angels have mastery of power. They are also crazy afraid of some angels.
I practice direct, angel and chaos magick with a bit of elemental magick (not the basic elemental ones but more on divine, light and darkness).
I prefer things that are DIY rather to rely on asking other beings, as its easy to get tricked, trapped or end up with pretenders. Im also not fond of indirect practices like tarot or astrology, as to me things can be changed.
I'm both study and practice focused. Used to study way more, now I rather practice.
My primal path is path of the vampire, so vampiric practice. And by the gods I do love it, it feels right.
Beyond that I'm not intensively into anything, just a piece here and there, what works and what I find interesting and useful. I'm that controversial type that enjoys borrowing stuff from pop culture for use in magic practice.
I desire liberation or freedom. I won't say more on that.
I’m practice-focused with chaos magick, experimenting with sigils, paradigms, and techniques from multiple systems to see what actually works. Divination complements this by helping me track patterns and measure outcomes. I’ve been drawn to chaotic heathenry, and my OTO initiation opened doors to ritual structures that resonate with me while still leaving plenty of room for experimentation.
I like chaos magick because it’s flexible and personal—not tied to dogma—and divination gives me the feedback loop I need. My goal is a self-sufficient magical practice: a toolkit I can refine, rely on, and share.
25 years ago, I was on the verge of death. Unusual magicians appeared on my path. They offered me two options: Death or Life. I chose Life. I survived, much to everyone’s surprise. And that’s when my training began. Mentors came and went, one after another. When one period ended, another began.
In short, I trained in Cosmic (Space) Bioenergetics, Polar Medicine, Biopolation, Folk Medicine, Graphic Magic, and Cleansing from negative human influences. By helping a well-known gypsy woman, I was taught some secrets of gypsy magic. One Christian denomination wanted very much to make me a priest, and I was granted permission to read the Liturgical Book of Petro Mohyla. The Church persistently tried to bring me under their banner for a long time.
My mentors worked with major European corporations and government officials. Over the past 25 years, about ten mentors have trained me. No one asked if I wanted this; they simply filled me with knowledge.
But my essence is Time. Let’s call it the Magic of Time.
There was also an interesting moment… I was once invited to a project as an administrator. There, I was responsible for creating and managing a pension fund for Magicians.))) You could say that I also have a grasp of unusual “Pension Magic.”))
I don’t use most of this knowledge nowadays. But sometimes I can joke around and show a few "tricks."))
In short, I exist between Worlds and am friends with both sides. Although, the Dark Worlds have done a great deal for me, and I am very grateful to them.
English is not my native language, and you might notice that from my writing style.))
My magic is a mix of study and practice.
For me - I prefer to study & theorize, practically test it, and then refine the theories based on the results. Pretty much scientific method applied to all of my magic.
From the thematic list given - my magic is primarily Chaos Magic, with a bias towards Animism, Shamanism, Folk Magic & Witchcraft, with common approaches including Green Magic/Herbalism, Sigils, Blood Magic & Sex Magic.
In order not to repeat myself here's a link to something I gave some thought to once. Since that time I've experienced some growth and gotten a bit wider perspective on the "Human Condition", no doubt due to the steady pursuit of my "Higher Genius", who apparently is finally deciding to grant me a "wink and a nod"!

there actually is real blood vampirism where you have to drink blood, its a real rare medical condition. Would you mind taking the conversation to DMs to avoid going offtopic here?

Luring me into PM you? That stinks of evil. Especially because you are doing it here a lot. Sugests bad things about what kind of wizard you are...

Let's delve little deeper into this matter, because it is useful.
You asked me a question to find out something that interests me and then tried to fascinate me with your knowledge and luring me to speak with you more. This amazement method is on itself harmless or would be if it wasn't used by cults in luring in the new members. Fascination is used for gaining control of another's person mind, because when fascinated, the mind looses the ability to think and is open to get it anything that is said, ideally of course, but used little by little it works well enough in reprograming person into being someone else entirely.
Probably Angel magick wizardry at this point. I bought a simplistic book on magical protection from the Gallery of Magick, liked the results, and bought another book on angel magic from the same author. I made a stack of Angels specific to becoming a practicing wizard from that book. Immediate sense of change, energy, dreams.
I've read a lot of different books over the years though and would have described myself as a chaos magician. Always found ceremonial magick stuffy and boring. I like the Kabbalah but again it gets tedious for me. Like reading a book on accounting and I hate numbers.
I have lived with high strangeness most of my life, so this is just what resonates and seems most appropriate at this time.
Its more of a mix for me, since im both Study and Practice focused. I tend to go in the direction of "if i am able to Study it, and then Practice it and it works, then it works" and i add it to my current practice
and in that Vein I study and practice Divination (tarot, Oracle), Chaos magic, Green Magic, and Witchcraft.
though im currently studying blood magic in the event i ever need it
Study focused + I'm interested in everything in theory. All the paths and systems.
Practice focused. +++++ Practice practice and more practice. Staying idle and doing nothing won't get you anywhere. The daily practices are important.
Commercial or advertising focused etc. +/- Not that much. Once in a while I guide somebody. Mostly certain psalm methods and niche spamming techniques.
The interests, there are all kinds.
The keyword is obsession. I don't really have many interests outside of the spirituality. It has been so for almost as long as I can remember.
The core of it, active monastic methods, working with the energies. Cycling, circulating, processing. Mainly doing it through methods from the 3 religious systems. Orthodoxy, Sufism, Hinduism. Since this stuff goes so deep it's a long lifetime quest. The methods I combine together from there feel like doing some sort of a weird form of "ceremonial activity".
Saint work. One of the main ones. Endless experimentation. This has been there since I started the journey.
There's definitely an interest in angelology and demonology, invocations. The study of grimoires.
Divination. A bit with the tarot cards. For a while I was interested in the elder futhark runes. Didn't do much with them.
The goals.
Always looking for higher more powerful outcomes, more results, more knowledge, more power, more everything. More intuition, extended abilities, more more more. There's always room for improvements. At least it makes the life interesting to strive for something.
I used to be interested in orisha, voodoo. Somebody who practiced it inspired me in maybe 2007. While the guy wasn't exactly a nice person his dedication to active practices motivated me. This was one of those things that got the ball rolling.
I'm probably forgetting something hmmm ...

Right, forgot to add.
The other part of goals. Help out others. I enjoy teaching some methods, watching them improve, hearing the success stories.
