Have been read about the occult for many years but was always a bit afraid/confused where to start. Decided to dive deep into chaos magic a few weeks ago and everything just clicked for me and I would now like to start practicing.

I’m assuming that before trying anything advanced I need to first train my mind to be still, enter trance, etc and am following the simple techniques outlined in the start of liber null.

Wondering at what point I know I can start actually practising rituals or other advanced stuff? I have a tendency of setting unrealistic expectations and I don’t want to set an arbitrary benchmark to achieve , which might delay my progress and stop me from, actually getting started.

"Magickal Curriculum" by Frater Akenu, Liber MMM in Carroll's "Liber Null & Psychonaut" as you already mentioned, both in the Library. I wouldn't see those exercises as mere preliminaries, Not-Thinking alone can transform you in ways you never thought possible, as difficult as it is.

I would start with rituals right from the beginning, no matter what the books say, for example with the LBRP or other general-purpose or protection rituals. Not-Thinking will become easier once you're forced to focus on words and gestures, it gives your mind something to do and prevents it from straying. I'm a big fan of the

(English version farther down the page but I prefer the more archaic language given in Jason Miller's "Real Sorcery") - try it first without the 'barbarous names', it's easier to memorize that way and less scary (at least that's how it was for me!). I see it as a rite of empowerment where you become a creator god and can actually feel how possessing magical powers could be like.

I don't bother with the glyph/sigil, by the way, the ritual text doesn't say how to use it, as far as I know.
