I feel like I need a mentor but haven’t found anyone local yet

Here's a nice succinct guide with pretty pictures. It's about meditation but that leads naturally to magic, sorta tangentially.

It helps if you have lots of free time and no urgent concerns. Think of it as your own personal research project. You will be shown something strange and interesting. Then you dive deeper into it.
