Why can't astrologers calculate the date of someone's death?

It's quite common to see astrologers preparing natal charts for recently deceased celebrities and saying something like "the chart wasn't conducive to travel" about someone who died in a car or plane accident. I believe astrology serves to read the energy flow of the moment and the person, but without pre-determining things like their death. Seeking any kind of prediction for specific dates is setting yourself up as a potential victim of scammers.

I've had similar results with tarot, and obviously I didn't tell the person when I read about their sick father. Three months later, the father passed away, unfortunately. But I didn't know when it would happen, only the most likely outcome.

I've personally seen people have visions of a future event that came to fruition, but the person couldn't control it, and it was the action of spiritual entities outside of the person. In other words: Astrology, tarot, other divinatory methods, and magic aren't about exact dates. You'll only be disappointed.

As Marion March and Joan McEvers said in their book The Best Way to Learn Astrology, part 4, it is impossible to predict death with certainty because the symbolism is a broad category. The 8th house means death, but it also means transformation, sex, inheritance, spouse's money... It can be indicated in the chart, but not said with certainty.

The reason why astrologers can't predict death is because most of the modern astrologers are more focused on astrology as a subset of psychology IE as a map to describe idividual personality, instead of a predictive engine. this creates a situation where they claim that something is impossible, while in truth it is possible but outside of the scope of their abilities.

A similar process is what lead modern astrology to be a bad describer of personality : they take the position of the sun as the indicator of the general behavior of a person, while in truth it is supposed to be read from their temperament : are they sanguine, choleric, melancholic or phlegmatic ?

Long stroy short : in truth, yes death can be read from a natal chart, but not from house 08, rather from something called the Hyleg. That's too deep of a subject to be discussed in an informal non-teacher-to-student way, but i've already said enough to answer your question, and my own training is not done yet.

An occult answer might be Chaos. A non-hermetic answer might be chaos. Imagine, if you will, that an astrological reading has given you a precise time, precise place for leaving. You could usurp the reading with an act of will.

Nah . Well ... yeah ; you can usurp the astrological prediction with an act of will , but not .....

grim reaper death GIF

Story time ( Sufi one this time ) ;

An astrologer predicted a man's death, in a few days time . So , fearful, he fled his home town of Panjakent and rushed to Samarkand where he hid himself among the throng of market goers . Then , while admiring some goods in the market place , a hand was placed on his shoulder . He turned and was face to face death .

'' There you are ! '' said death , '' I was wondering my appointment with you was scheduled for Samarkand .... when you live in Panjakent .''

I agree with most of that except I do both and know a few others that do both . Personally, and in a group others found it so , I have found great value in astro-psychology.

A Leo called 'Leo ...... ' ( I can't remember the surname ) is supposedly responsible for the modern idea about the Sun . :D .

But can we determine much detail from a 4 part system ( alone ) ? I think it was the rising sign that used to rule the physical aspect of that and the rest ; the angular relationships between the planets . Still, the first house (like the others ) seems based on planetary energy and I think a planet near 0 degrees would overrule the planet energy attributed to the house .

Interesting . I have never thought about death in a chart before . I have encountered it in Tarot readings of course . I am assuming similar qualifiers apply .

I don't think astrology deals with concrete fate but just the "fate settings"?
I know what you mean and it is true to some extent,if you are destined to marry a sickly woman, you can get a girl that's thin, fat, rich, poor, ugly, stunning, but you're not gonna change the basic fact of her being sickly. Yes, you are right about that.

Cicero - De Divinatione is probably the most famous discussion on this topic. Cicero argued in Rome that if Astrology were true then how could thousands of men born under differnt stars die together in a single battle?

His view point was quite revolutionary and controversial at the time.

That would make life already played through we live with infinite choices & possibly with infinite parallel dimensions where we make a different decision for every action we've ever took so to predict death is nearly impossible not impossible but extremely hard cause we quantum jump from realities daily

This is what I believe too, ArchonLynx. Astrology, in my opinion and experience, is largely about the timing of energies. Many different choices can exist for us that can be attributed to an energy, such as Mars energy as an example, or a combination of energies, during a certain time frame. We have free will to pick which choice of many that present themselves that have that Mars energy. Sometimes we hit the nail on the head with our predictions. We have our psychic abilities, or intuition, that can help us narrow down the possibilities that exist. Hitting a nail on the head, as I mentioned above, sounds like one choice of many that demonstrate Mars energy! That was unintentional.

Ancient astrology did indeed calculate the time of death, when you open the old books (Mashallah, Albumazar, et. al.) they begin with the first chapter talking about length of life and the killing planet. This knowledge starts in the Hellenistic books and it continued on the Arab world. Sadly the knowledge was considered too scary by modern astrologers and they just did not use it. In the 1990's started a movement to translate astrology from the classic sources and that is how we started to read again the techniques.
Why is it not taught widely? Because modern medicine helps a lot. Robert Zoller was famous for teaching the time of death and as a first exercise asking his students to calculate his time of death, when the calculations were finished the result was that he should have died at birth, which he indeed said it was true since he was born without part of his epithelium on the lung and that would have killed him in the Middle ages, nowadays babies are saved from dying with the iron lung. So it seems that technique predicts the hardest crisis in health you will face on your life. If you manage to get in time to the hospital you may survive.
The other reason is that our modern culture does not like to know we are going to die, most people want to live with the idea they will not perish. So it is a bit unpopular as a technique. But it can be calculated and give interesting results, you just need to read more traditional sources.

Let's imagine a situation where banks consult with ancient astrology and refuse or approve loans based on calculations about the date of client's death! Or that your career depends on astrological calculations of the date of your death and that data is used by authorities, insurance companies, banks, and corporations? What a wonderful world that would be!? I'm joking, of course, but I'm using this to express my point that it is possible to calculate the date of death. It's not hard to imagine some ruler or powerful person in ancient times putting court astrologers in delicate situations over many questions, and probably also over questions about the dates of death of their enemies, family members, or themselves.

I'm wondering if Mr. Zoller or any of his students was able to predict his actual death, on February 24, 2020. That would be one way to make a decision as to the accuracy of the methods that he used. I see he does have a book on Amazon that teaches the use of Arabic Parts.
