Why is there a sort of taboo around gambling and lottery in occultism work?

Hello all,

I am writing this post mainly to start working towards access to the library but also I would like to discuss with people in the know.

Why is it that manifestation, magick, occultism in general touches so little upon the topic of winning the lottery? It seems to me a sort of "taboo" has been established around gambling and lottery.

While reading "Pendulum Magic for Beginners" by Richard Webster I came accross a warning he makes to basically "not use this ability for gambling", in the book he touches upon the subject of horse racing, saying you should not use the pendulum to divine which horse is going to win, and that if you do, you will find negative consequences about you.

I've felt a general mood follows this topic in many occultist practices/knowledge, and I just don't understand why.

Is it because is not a "noble" endeavor? Does this even matter? Is that attaining money fast is a bad thing, while using the pendulum to, perhaps let's say, find your lost car keys is a good thing? (The author I mentioned earlier suggests this purpose as something you can do with Pendulum magic, but condems gambling and other things)

Specially I wonder about lottery winning. Our society is built around money, it is literally called CAPITALism. Money is the center of everything in human westernized society. Then there is a mechanism that allows for a few individuals to attain large amounts of money with very little investment, you buy a ticket for 3 bucks and you could receive a million. How is it that, in a capital centrist society, so few teachers touch upon the subject of winning the lottery which is one of the fastest methods of attaining wealth, while also involving minimal effort?

It just feels to me that such a simple and effective mechanism should be the center of more works in a society where money is the main subject.

Well it hurts to lose your money at a casino, how much more would it hurt if it also proved your powers are imaginary? I'm not taking a shot at you or anyone in particular but most practitioners are not bold enough to put their money where their mouth is (and would likely receive a painful shock if they did).

And if one is actually the beneficiary of a higher power, one capable of changing the real physical outcome of rolled dice and not just manipulating emotional energy, then you might want to adopt a humble attitude with respect to them because that is a very high ability.

Thirdly, it could be that the conspicuous use of such powers would draw the attention of other organizations who you are better off avoiding

After mulling over this topic for a few days, it struck me most people are looking at winning the lottery from the perspective that you haven't won the lottery unless its the organization hosting the lottery that gives you the money. Most people who play the lottery often in a bid to increase their odds of winning will never win, and the amount of money they spent could probably have reversed their fortunes entirely if invested more wisely in something else. However, somebody has to win the lottery eventually, and 9 times out of 10 it will be some such individual. A fool and his money are soon parted, and most lottery winners wind up right back where they were within a few years.

My question is, why are lottery chasing wizards targeting the highly manipulated and overseen lottery events instead of the lucky fools who will quickly find any and every reason to part with their winnings? Skimming from the top of the lottery winners sounds to me like a much more reliable way of "winning the lottery" than actually trying to pull the winning ticket.

It's actually an urban legend that most lottery winners go broke after winning. It's true if you interview someone who won a state lottery a year later, they probably don't have the money anymore, but if you research it, you won't find "broke jackpot winners" from the national lotteries.

It's estimated that your chances of winning the UK lottery are of the order of 15 million to one.

In comparison, William Hill, the bookmakers, give the odds of the Biblical Apocalypse at 6000 to one.

Your chances of dying in a car crash are around 350 to one.
I once read that if you drive ten miles to buy a lottery ticket you have a greater chance of being killed in a road accident on the way than winning . So, I drove ten miles and bought a lottery ticket . Didn't win. Didn't crash .

Webster probably doesn't want to be sued if it doesn't work for lottery or accused of creating a gambling problem . Also if everyone won there wouldn't be enough to pay out. But most importantly I think you should decide for yourself if it's right. That's just Webster's opinion after all.
