Hi all,

I’m looking for a journal specifically designed for witchcraft practice with space for rituals, moon work, reflections etc.

I’ve tried a few different ones but can't find one for next year.

Has anyone come across something like this or have any other recommendations?

Thank you

Find any empty notebook of your liking, if you need to have variable number of pages, use something like this so you can add and remove pages...

I like to buy hardcover notebooks, already having a collection way above what I will probably ever use. But keep in mind that you never know ahead how much of space you need. Since I have a collection, I devote each of the notebooks to other part of my practice, so that design of the cover tells me what is inside.

If you need something a bit more structured, then a search for 'book of shadows journal' should hopefully show you some worthwhile things.

I think making your own journal or ‘Book of Shadows’ would be best. You might find more success with a binder and finding template pages to then handwrite on. Personally I found the Spellcaster’s Logbook by Peter Pauper Press to be useful for shorter spellwork but not so much room for reflection.

I really like the three ring binder idea for ease of addition and sections. I'd also suggest for most people to keep a text or document file with a table of contents (possibly with dates) for easy reference when the page count gets higher. We are spoiled in the modern age with text searchable content, and while physical books of shadow are great, finding stuff can have issues.

I launched an app called livegrimoire.com thats specifically for this issue. I have a ton of citations I use and prayers, invocations, books etc etc and the physical grimoires were getting unmanageable with the amount of random notes I had to keep track of so I made the app to address this issue that I feel is unique to occultists

If you want inspiration or a template, everyone here has already come up with good ideas. If you're American, the bookstores in my area have occult sections (in my local Barnes and Noble it's usually labeled "self-transformation") and often have ready-to-go books of shadows and grimoires for you to fill in. Some occult stores sell them too. My first book of shadows was a cheapo red notebook from the dollar store though, and you might find the process of making your own more satisfying and more helpful in the end.

Etsy has a number, many designed binder-style, or to take standard journals.
Many magicians of earlier eras had shelves full of 'magickal journals' so there's no need to be too focused on the singular 'Book of Shadows' model, which was meant to keep that particular faith's lore discrete.

I’ve used composition notebooks, 3-ring binders with or without sheet protector sleeves, some hardback sketchbooks that I wrote in with calligraphy pens , fountain pens and markers, colored pencils and acrylic paint, last year I got a couple old fashioned looking deckle edge cotton paper notebooks from amazon.

I have random notebooks to keep track of different projects, like one is strictly for runes, another for card reading, etc.

There’s nothing wrong with compartmentalization, I have to second what Greyhoss said, if you think everything needs to be in one volume you’re going to end up with a lot of volumes anyway, and they might be almost impossible to use because everything is so crammed into one volume.

Amazon has a lot of great blank notebooks, whether lined like journals or sketchbooks. They run the price from 5-7 USD each down to 1-3 USD if you get a bulk purchase. Stores like Office Depot and staples always have some nice journal type books, but they’re more expensive, they’re probably ordered off Amazon too jajaja. I’ve got some nice ones from Walmart and the dollar store too.

i saw a cool video on YouTube where this one lady made a book of shadows with brown paper grocery bags, it looked really cool, different, handmade. It was huge too, it probably would take me a decade to fill that up.

in a reference to ye olden tymes of thee magickal arte, a lot of those were written in really small books or manuscripts with vellum/parchment folios. Like 5x8 inches. Tiny. Just for some perspective.
