[Help] Workings With Saturnian

I have enjoyed some modest success working with planetary squares. But I have been warned off attempting any workings with Saturn. The source claims that, even with efforts to properly direct Saturn's influence, mishaps are highly likely. Does anyone have any experience with this, either confirmatory or not?

One doubt I have is with the source itself. The group (whom I have only dealt with online) strikes me as an O9A-inspired nexion that decided to become permanent. That is, the leadership seemed to have grown comfortable and, if I may, slightly saturnine. A group that, deeply discontent with post-modernity, counsels "Our gods are at work in this world and we have already won." Whether this affects their workings with Saturn's forces, I cannot say. Still I wonder.

In any event, any input by folks who have worked with the squares and Saturn is welcome.

I meant to entitle this "Working With Saturnian Squares," but a whole word fell into the li'l gynningap between brain synapses and entered the Void. If I get any more Alzhammered, I'll wind up POTUS, I will.

I wouldn't call it "expertise" so much as exploration. Basically all astrology books I have are inadequate for me in developing that intuitive grasp, but daily contemplation of the situation of the heavens using an astrology program kind of keeps the inputs coming up for consideration.
The most immediate approachable thing I have found so far was to listen to Chris Brennan's Astrology Podcast on Youtube - particularly the tutorials. The Zodiac and House tutorials really opened up my understanding, which is still opening. Listening to practicing professionals talk bypasses a lot of useless interpretation lures given in text - especially dated moralisms, weaseled in ideological stances, vitalistic health fixations and feel good "fluff".


It's definitely a patchwork, lol. Explaining my incomplete understanding would take too long. But the fulcrum of my grasp at understanding is rooted in Corpus Hermeticum XIII. I'm using Brian Copenhaver's Hermetica edition which is now considered dated but I am not going to quibble beyond the practical utility of the puzzle.

Thank you, very helpful, I will definitely go deeper into astrology, very interested in planetary magick lately, it felt natural as a progression in Frater Achers Daimon Trilogy that ends with "Holy Heretics" that goes through Paracelsus, the Arbatel and goes into planetary Praxis too in the end.
I also already bought his new book that just came out a few weeks ago, about the Olympic Spirits (quiet big book though).
