There is a process called rectification that uses major life events to correct the Ascendant and Midheaven, which frame the house structure and therefore dictate the sign and planet placements. This assumes you're old enough to have had a sufficient number of important experiences to make it possible (deaths in the family, marriages or divorces, significant career changes, etc).
I should have added that this normally requires knowing the day of birth. Lacking that it's quite difficult and time-consuming.
Yes without the place/date/time it is a bit problematic. For like a decade I didn't know the exact information, I was given the wrong time. I analyzed the whole thing through and while some things made sense, a lot did not. Later came out the exact time was off 3-4 hours.
This is a noble pursuit. I wanted to figure out the reasons behind my obsession with esoteric studies and occultism. With the right time bit by bit everything started to make sense. This was a massive research and over time even more started to make sense. At first I looked at all the aspects individually then how they affected each other. I'm still every now and then reanalyzing it.
