Is Abaddon an angel or a demon? I watched a TV show called Haunted Hotel and because there was a character called Abaddon it got me interested in learning about demonolgy.
In the show Abaddon is a demon but when I looked up Abaddon outside the show it also called him an angel. I heard in some traditions he's a demon and in others an angel?
Partly why I was also interested in the abyss as a concept. I explained away most magic I expierenced in dreams as just psychology and pyscho-analysis. After learning about it kind of is but there's more to it than that.
Well firstly, stop getting your occult 'knowledge' from TV shows
I know there are enormously experienced people on here who can guide you about demonology. We do have a thread about 'Crossing the Abyss' but, frankly, you'll probably be more confused going out than you were coming in...
I personally believe that magic is how to manipulate your own normal conscious processes in order to be 'lucky on purpose', but I realise this is not a popular opinion.

I tried to find other sources. I don't watch a lot of TV because I was too busy for a while. Then I made more time for myself and exploring things that I enjoyed.
I enjoyed that show and thought why not explore the lore of it. I am trying to take this seriously I just started from a not fully serious point like a TV show.

I don't think I would want to do work with him if at all. Maybe when I have way more practice and knowledge than the bare bones. But thats maybe.
I kind of just want to learn right now. And process it. I feel a little too depressed to do spells. To do much honestly. But reading about magic that I believe in more helps.
Recovery from what I went through takes time. I'm mostly trying to meditate and sit in silence right now.

I never even claimed to know much and abaddon is just a recorded figure who was used in TV show as a character but is also an occult something?
I don't know much I am learning. "Knowledge" in quotation marks is right because I am learning. And to learn sometimes you have to ask questions.
I'm going to like this but to only show agreement that I do not have the knowledge yet. I have "knowledge" generalization from society no theory nothing. Just nothing.

I was kind of joking - you did indeed say in the next line that you looked elsewhere as well.
It sounds to me like the first thing you should read is about Chaos Magic. We have Liber Null and other books in the library. Chaos Magick is about manipulating your own belief systems to do magic - this would allow you to explore what you think about Abaddon, and how you can relate him to your own situation. If you want to work with him, you will need to forge a relationship with him. You will find out some things about his nature, and you would need to decide what kind of relationship you want with him.
I will point out that I personally believe spirits of all kinds, demons or what-have-you, to be egregores - things made up by humans that have taken on a life of their own because so many people have believed them into reality.
