Hi guest! As you can see, the new Wizard Forums has been revived, and we are glad to have you visiting our site! However, it would be really helpful, both to you and us, if you registered on our website! Registering allows you to see all posts, and make posts yourself, which would be great if you could share your knowledge and opinions with us! You could also make posts to ask questions!
Who said anything about debate? I don't debate, I would only do that in Controversy sub-forum.
I may state my opinion, but I don't think that's the same? I post to start (or continue) dialog about a topic I'm interested in, to learn more.
Don't make posts that don't say anything, especially as an OP. Either clarify what you feel / associate with lunar phases or asks others what they do.
Posts like these should either be a profile update or go in the (just rediscovered)
We all have our "that moment when..." moments in our life. Share with us your ups and downs or any type happenings. Considering that this is an off-topic section, it don't have to be connected to magic, but you can always aim at these topic, whatever you feel more "current". Don't forget, the...
I shave my head during lunar phases. New moon and full moon. Many Theravada Buddhist monks do the same. At least the ones I’ve encountered. Candle spells are best to be practised during the waxing moon from my experience. The waxing is the giving and the waning is the taking away. This can also be used in meditation practise. That’s how I use the moon cycles as of right now. I’d like to hear what others do ?
For myself, the shadow of the phases of Venus are attributed to Lilith, with the sunlit side Eve. The gist of the attribution as aspects of the archetypal feminine in a modern Women Who Run With the Wolves syncretism.
Reattributing Lucifer/Prometheus to Mercury shadow/light phases whose planetary elongation matches nautical dawn aurora in my viewing to be renamed as Lightbringer. Renaming Venus as Nightkeeper for the planet's greater elongation that goes to astronomical twilight. Lightkeeper is also an option.
The Moon shadow for Hecate.
What is going on with 'underfoot ' ( at IC - Immum Coeli ) ?
I was about to post some interesting Moon observations , so I will do that here .
When Moon is directly beneath the observers position on earth it effects nature to a strong extent . All good fishermen know this . A fishing 'Sol-Luna Chart' will show you ( it's also applicable to other things , like hunting ) the best times for fishing . They are when the Moon is at one of the four stations ( Moon rise , Moon overhead , Moon set and Moon underfoot : 0 , 90, 180 & 270 deg . ) and particularly so when the Sun is at one of those stations at the same time . The best combinations seem to be Moon underfoot and Sunset or Sunrise .
As in older astrology ( and by 'logic' ) the only 'real ' dynamic is the angular relationship between planets . This seems to be the factor at work here . We could say it is actually a response to tides , But I observe this in my fish tank and fish pond as well .... they are not tidal . At these times fish want to feed , sometimes in a near frenzy . Other times they can float around looking at the food .... Nah . So ... if you have been fishing and never got a bite ... nothing , it could be a timing issue .
There are also Moon dynamics and cycles we are familiar with , the obvious Moon phase ( Synodic )cycle and some notice the cycle of its path through the sky being lower or higher (inclination / declination ; the Tropical Cycle ) .
But there are many other cycles that are used in natural agriculture ( I used to work making soil preparations for Bio-dynamic agriculture ).
The main Moon cycles used there are ;
The above one - 'Tropical Cycle '. The Sidereal Cycle - which sign the Moon is in . Moon Nodes cycle . Apogee and Perigee ( Moon close or far ) . Moon opposition Saturn Cycle . Most of these are around the 27 - 28 day cycle , the Synodic is near 30 , the Node cycle 13 . 5 .
There are other dynamics like the A P cycle - when the Moon crosses the ecliptic no agricultural work should be done ( 2 - 6 hrs either side ) .
Another dynamic is that between the Moon and the cow . The earliest relationship seems to be Hathor - 'The Mistress of the Sky ' ; the Left Eye of Ra ( the Sun was the right eye , the Moon the left eye ) .
The observant may notice when living in a rural area or travelling through one , sometimes the cows are busy eating and pother times they are laying down 'sleeping' or chewing cud ( which is a near 'sleep' trance like state ) they do this in cycles and this also is effected by the Moon cycles ;
One concept is that the other astrological forces 'come into ' Earth via the Moon . Perhaps we could liken it to a big receiving dish that relays the signal to earth .
On the Tree of Life the Moon position is that last phase before material creation .
In psychology it represents the emotions and sub/un conscious .
In my Tree of Life adapted to psychology , the Moon sits , as the unconscious , with the 3 inner / personal plaets around it in a triangle ;
