Hello! I’m wanting to learn about witchcraft and have been looking for good history book on witchcraft or older style Grimoires to learn from

I liked the Athlone History of Witchcraft and Magic in Europe in 6 volumes. The Library link is dead, so search for "Witchcraft and Magic in Europe" by Bengt Ankarloo, Stuart Clark (eds.) or the original title here:

I don't know about witchcraft grimoires though - were there literate witches in olden times? The Discoverie of Witchcraft by Reginald Scot maybe?

Liber Null and Psychonaut by Peter J Carrol is a great start.

Strictly speaking, 'witchcraft' and 'grimoire' don't go together. At the time the grimoires were written, witchcraft was at the level of (illiterate) folk magic, and writing stuff down could be dangerous for your health anyway. Most grimoires were written in Latin, which is why scholars often speak of 'learned magic', i.e. magic being the exclusive preserve of the clergy and educated members of the nobility. I gave you a link to a Library post with a book on witchcraft history that has been deleted by mega.io for copyright infringement since, hence the link to Anna's.

There are all sorts of grimoires (as well as books on grimoires) in the Library, so I have no particular recommendation for you here, there are just too many of them. The ones edited by Joseph Peterson usually get good reviews.
