This is honestly a good question. Though I would put it little different: Can you expect survival of society where people feel the happiest and safest when they are alone?
I was little surprised how little people understand the weight of this question. It is smart, but I guess that there is something that people miss. When you keep feeling something constantly, your brain will get numbed to sensing it. It is still there, but you consciously do not really pay attention to it. In this case everyday stress, fears and anxiety are still there, but people stop noticing them consciously. But they are still there, they affect people both mentally and physically. (much younger people are getting cancer, much younger people are starting to have grey hair...)
Another fact is that claim that maternal instinct is the strongest, is a myth not based on truth. Survival instinct is the strongest. When it hits, even parents act to save themselves, not their kids, both humans and animals alike. If people are still in stress, they are still half way in survival mode. And in survival, brain set on constant danger, breeding is not an option, because that one demands one to feel safe.
Just some thoughts on this question. Do you agree with me?
