A Deeper Catalogue of Each Spirit Type - Young Spirits vs. "The Land of the Young" (Part 1)
When you meet a human who reincarnated from a Young Spirit, and has experienced past life regression, they will talk about recent events. The World Wars. The Industrial Age. Sipping tea with English lords. Washing in a basin in rural France. Jousting as knights. The farthest back I've heard such people talk about would land somewhere between "Biblical" Babylon and the Roman Empire, and the things they say seem to be colored by an Anglicized, often Christianized recollection of such history. I've heard someone talk about past life memories as a Saint who was just the Christian name for a Celtic god. I've heard someone talk about how their life in Egypt consisted of escaping from slavery building the Pyramids, even though historically we know the Pyramids were built by contract workers, not Semitic slaves. This is not to say all Young Spirits remember their past lives wrong, but rather that their experiences are often colored by what they've been told to believe. This is something everyone experiencing regression tends to need help with, including me 10-ish years ago when I started.
I don't have a lot of concrete material to go off of, when it comes to describing the genesis process of Young Spirits. For a long time, it was my impression that all souls were timeless immortals, that they have existed since the nebulous age of my earliest memories, or further. I have since changed my perspective on that. "Souls," in the sense of Vital Essence constructs with some degree of autonomy, are temporary things birthed from memories of the past. "Karma," in a sense, but not in the way some might be thinking. I'm not talking about right vs. wrong morality, but about how the consequences of one's actions, feelings, and even thoughts shape the formation of the future. Who we are right now has a lot to do with those who came before us, and not all effects are delivered by proxy of our current teachers, parents, and so forth. There is a "past you," in the sense that someone lived before you, and even after they were "gone," the causal waves of their physical, sensual, mental, and vital activity carry on to affect other living beings, other environments. That "past you" is connected to the "present you," in the sense that your existence sprung from (among other influences) the cast-off effects of those ripples, and you feel them more strongly and intimately than people who are "not you." This is all somewhat subjective, since we are all of us One in the grand spiritual whole, a single Vital essence whose branching experiences are unified by common ground.
How does a Young Spirit start existing? Well, the essences that combined to create them have always existed in some form. I adhere to the model that Newton set down, albeit on a higher scale. Nonphysical essences, like Matter, can neither be created nor destroyed. Cultivation and banishment are fairly distinct from this, as remote forms of Alteration. While Sensual, Mental, and Vital essences cannot be "Made To Exist Where There Were None/From Nothing," the existing ones can be conjured from remote places, times, and even multiversal possibility. In this way, I can appear to "create" Vital essence, by cultivating it from the residue found in my own being, the water, the wind, and the cast-offs of beings who have passed by, or passed on. I can cause what does not appear to be Vital essence, to change so that it appears that way, though it has been the whole time. Think of it like water. A light limning of vapor on a leaf or pot lid is not going to sate your thirst, nor will it save you from heat exhaustion. The calories needed to undergo consuming it will, by burning them, deplete your water reserves even more. Thus, to benefit from drinking water, you must consume enough, often and regularly, that the benefit outweighs the caloric cost, external heat, and other factors. There are also nutritional concerns to take into account, but I belabor the metaphor here. You cannot benefit from an amount of Vital essence so sparse and minimal as that; it must be cultivated into a richer and more powerful sample.
By that same path, a Young Spirit can come to exist where there "was none," by the confluence of the right essences in the right volume and quality. Generally, you need a basis, and there are few better than the Physical essence. Very safe, very stable, but that safety must be depleted to ensure proper spiritual growth (at the right time, of course).
