I read into Neuro Linguistic Programming years ago and forgot most - are you familiar with the topic?
Yeah, a bit. I haven't used it a lot, but I need to refresh the early stuff I did with it. It's got possibilities.

Some really interesting things on this ancient site

Just today wrote with a musician friend about the devils chord or interval and binaural sounds that create the illusion of notes in the brain through feedback loops. And now I saw the first link of your shared site is about creating 'Audio Sigils' 👻

Chaos Matrix is highly under rated, just because it's Old doesn't mean it isn't of value, I likely have most of it in my personal stash just in case the "net" goes into the "ether" which is not impossible! :ROFLMAO:

There are great utilities on nix like "wget" and others that can grab an entire website down to the bottom levels in a flash with my "fat pipe" fiber connection, especially one's with mostly text content like Chaos Matrix. Great for archiving Magick Materials.

Entering very sleepy mode : When I'm close to being religious about something it's Unix. But i did not grow up with it and am no power user [yet].

O i appreciate the old web, love it, and most info we rely on is ancient, even as a kid i was into ancient civilizations.
And how old is the water we drink hahah? Name me the years this water is old old friend.

Chaos Matrix is the only site I've tried to actually preserve any of the content though, the content is that Good IMO. I often recommend a link to something there for folks that I think will help somehow. I guess I know the layout now pretty well. It's helped quite a few folks over quite a while.

I'm going to parse your post back there, lot of thoughts. Thanks for jumping into the thread!

So with techniques i mean all stuff Vajrayana Buddhism, Yoga, Tantra, Qi Gong (Fu) - which is in part also incorporated into modern western magickal systems already, golden dawn you name it - but still, have you tried to achieve a Khechari Mudra to suck on the glands beneath your brain to get high off your own supply while almost suffocating on your tongue? So what are you waiting for?
Nope, I might think about this some more though? I make no distinction between martial arts and magic/k, especially the so-called internal or soft styles. I have some experience with Chinese/American Kenpo popularized by Ed Parker in Hawaii and California. The entire schema of integrating Eastern systems into the WMT resonates differently with different practitioners, you "pay your nickel and take your chance", some of it works for me.

Miracle of new avatar power
This book has been mentioned around here in various places. You packed a lot into that post! I'll unpack some more over time, if someone else doesn't do it first!

But seriously, there are so man things we could, maybe should incorporate and try, even though we should eliminate the words 'should' and 'try' from our vocabulary to manifest better. :ROFLMAO:
Yep, Try Not, Do!

The edgy artist and cultural engineer Genesis P. Orridge, voluntarily living in the commune for a few years where not even his clothes are his own and he has to come up with a new identity and story every day as a rule.
Yeah, he got to know William Burroughs and did lots of original stuff!

Another thing i wanted to say is - tech is somehow key (and therefore open source) - the 'Uranian principle' I would call it - Innovation & keeping up the spirit of experimentation are vital and becoming even more important for chaos magick. (Imagine sound of lightning strike)

Some interesting projects that cam to my mind are DMTx - they are extending the DMT breakthrough state to 'find out what the entities that always disappear before they want to explain something important to the human visitor' want to teach us.
These types research and incorporating stuff into the overall corpus from various Chaos groups and individuals (like Gordon White's Shoaling technique) keep things going forward!

And some non invasive Brain Computer Interface innovations that want to help induce certain states via frequencies, or so create lucid dreams artificially. I also find it vital to push the Bene Gesserit spirit - to not become avatars that are remote controlled by the AI Hivemind, but rather experimenting in such a way that we understand and improve the possibility we have to make seeeerious progress.
Agree with what you say here. Sound (Sonics) is underrated/appreciated in many ways. I've used various different frequency binaural beat sound files to good effect for several different things like relaxation, concentration and yes, meditation too, all with good results. Also "Sonics" can make or break a successful Invocation depending upon it's content.

We are thinking to small!
Yes, I have to agree. Thinking Large takes vision, courage and work, not everyone will get off their ass and supply those.

All good points, chime in here Chaos people this thread has Lots of room to Grow!

The Liber MMM Neophyte syllabus will have set us up for the two syllabi or syllabuses of the Initiate level, that is the White and Black sides of the magical coin. Things start to get real interesting at this level so there may be some interesting commentary forthcoming?

For a foundational reference, I need to shout my love for Phil Hine's "Prime Chaos". Liber Null & Psychonaut got the ball rolling for Chaos Magick, but it references a lot of occult elements where, if you're new to Magic, is going to be intimidating and possibly shut down before you even really start. Prime Chaos is a book focusing on being relatable and patient to get the points across. Two thumbs up.

Also, i sometimes think it's 'a bit strange' that the topic of multiple personality disorders and so on is kept a sort of fringe topic, I guess the most can imagine why, but it could very well be our subconscious is way better understood scientifically than we know.

Understanding the workings of it better would kind of be a holy grail for chaos magick.
Nobody understands scientifically how a single person works, let alone many :) Maybe it might shed some light, in the way that you find out more about a thing when that thing 'goes wrong'.

The more I read and find out, the more convinced I'm becoming that when we talk about 'the subconscious' what we are really talking about is the right side of the brain, the one that can't usually talk :)

A book I'm recommending now about this is Iain MacGilchrist's "The Master and his Emissary", about how the two halves of the brain are supposed to work together, but Western civilisation is putting far too much emphasis on the left side, because it's the side that can talk. As Emo Philips once said: "The brain is the smartest organ in the body; but then I thought: Look what's telling me that."

I read into Neuro Linguistic Programming years ago and forgot most - are you familiar with the topic?
I've read a couple books on it and knew some people who'd done courses in it. It's been described as 'magic for salesmen' which sounds about right.

Thank you looks like a nice suggestion.

When I was deeper into eastern thought I also thought about this topic, it might also be connected to monotheistic thought.
When comparing the acceptance of many paradoxes- or things that can be true at the same time and do not have to exclude each other- in the eastern view- or in my case I thought of this while mostly into vedic scriptures- to the black and white dialectic of the mono-view. But when perverted also a consciousness shaped by hinduism is capable of this thinking in addition to the good ol' cast sytem, as we see these days.

Might have been some gatekeeping too, i mean seperating the mystery schools and so on from the monolith was part of all the collectivism.

The more society was shaped and consciousness molded by words and regulations, the more of this hemisphere division manifested i guess.

And now algorithms that are perfected to squeeze emotions use exactly this trick to form reality, emotion + repetition = perception of something as real.

I have not worked with this book especially, but with two follow ups that expanded on the egregores called in 'Micacles of new Avatar power'.
One is by Jareth Tempest, the Angels of Omnipotence, that work with all of the connected Spirits/Egregores of this system- and it has a reputation of being a very potent one. And there is an even newer one from the Gallery of Magick by Adam Blackthorne called 'Secret Angel Magick' that works with the Angels of Omipotence, explains the Egregore background a bit, and also has one third of the book dedicated to the Genius Spirits, most well know one might be Nitika that is often worked with in wealth magick. This book has a big collection of spirits to work with.

In a way I also think it is more a whole way of life than a sport- that's why there is the distinction between martial arts and fighting sports i guess.
I'm from the generation that grew up with manga and anime(as before did many with superheroes) , and I was into martial arts for a long time, currently building up fitness to go into it again. I mentioned the Anime thing because it might have a bigger impact on the psyche than many think, the superpowers, the big mission, the mysteries to unlock powers etc.

Learning from monks of different kinds can really be key to unlock potential.

I recommend checking out the works of Dr. Yang Jwing-Ming, you may know him already, he was one of the people that popularized Kung Fu (which literally just means hard work translated) and Martial arts at the time Bruce Lee did. He also wrote on the soft and hard styles, Qi power.
Mantak Chia from the soft side is also great for getting into the Taoist view of energy.
I'm also curious how there will be improved on TCM in the age of AI and all that.

Reminds me of one of one Artist/Scientist Neri Oxman, she gifted a futuristic acupressure lounger tailored to the meridians to the Dalai Lama.

I think there maybe shouldbe some effort to expand the mind to think bigger, in combination with staying up to date with some innovation things, to truly leverage what will become possible.

Noble thought here! We have so much information being generated from so many areas that impact us, it's a bit more than a full time job? Focusing down on the areas of primary interest though is a great idea! It boggles the mind there's so much to keep up with, and now the new "darling" in every aspect of life is AI, and seemingly everything is being filtered through that lens. Is it working as planned, is there even a plan?

Maybe to qualify the AI part I mentioned in the thread here, it's showing up now in the forum in various degrees of "human intervention" as well as other social media, publishing, the news, et al. It's become a factor for better or worse everywhere. AI doesn't speak from experience, People Do though.

Just like you said, the artificial intelligence topic is a bit like the 'left hemisphere centered' side of the sheer infinte topic of consciousness. Creating true consciousness would require true understanding of it. The Bene Gesserit mentioning by me kind of reflects my position to that complex topic of AI.

Just like in Dune it may be wiser to expand and explore our capabilities and consciousness in an directed effort - while not outsourcing power too much. Dune plays after the AI-wars as you may know. Scifi and maybe some creativity enhancing exercises and practices could create some useful sparks?

And then the left hemisphere part of me that is pretty deep into sociology and all that just tries to understand and predict as much as possible where this acceleration may lead in our profane and intensely controlled plane of external existence.

I have not thought this through really, how would I without a supercomputer keeping me up to date - still my interest in scifi and kind of well developed gut feeling combining all I know with sniffing some trends here and there made me envision something like people using unaligned AI's and agents to 'coach themselves', kind of like a real version of the cyberpunk narrative of 'high tech low life', and working on the evolution of consciousness on the way.

Maybe it's enough to know that some scientific things are possible at a certain moment that aligns with the vision of a few people to realize this expanding of human potential on a scale large enough to create something meaningful and no 'breakaway civilization'right away.
A bit like a cyberpunk temple of psychic youth maybe.

Considering the chaos magick symbol came from his writings, I'd add in the eternal champion books with Michael Moorcock even though they aren't magick books per say. I haven't heard of any chaos magicians trying to work with lords of chaos egregores from his writings but if someone has any stories I'd love to hear them.

Good point! Michael Moorcock and Terry Pratchett for "Sleight of Mind" and the color of Magic "Octarine"! Both of those authors are great for providing some mental distraction and relaxation, IMO.

A book I'm recommending now about this is Iain MacGilchrist's
Nice! Gonna fan-boy over Iain McGilchrist, especially his opus 'The Matter with Things' .

Chaos magicians will find many useful of similarities between the CM 'Psychic Censor ' and what he calls the Schizo-Autistic Worldview.

Basally he suggests modern Western culture started resembling the symptoms you'd see in people with schizophrenia and autism. The left hemisphere dominates too much and life becomes overly abstract. See Alfred Korzybski where you start living in "the map" rather than the actual world. Words refer only to other words, theories trump lived experience, and everything gets sliced up. Another time this was called the "Disenchantment" of the world.

McGilchrist points out that during the Enlightenment and after, a surprisingly large number of prominent figures in literature, art, music, and philosophy were actually on the schizo-autistic spectrum. Symptoms include: imposing your own "map" of reality onto the world, regardless of contrary information, excessive abstraction, a fragmented, disconnected sense of experience, everything feeling a bit like you're "play-acting" rather than really living. The austistic phentotype: Over-rationalization without emotional grounding, preference for what's certain and knowable over mystery and ambiguity, Disengagement from embodied, intuitive experience, Everything becoming very literal and technical

More classic Magic has plenty of rich and immersive tools to help move into a more whole-brain experience: myth, art, incense, movement, rich narratives, color mythological figures, music, all of the right-hemispheric tools. to get past the CM Psychic Censor.

A fun intro

Oh, very germane. Another wonderful person to become acquainted to help with right-hemispheric mythic thinking, a friend of and fellow member of the Inklings with J.R.R. Tolkien, the late, great Owen Barfield. I keep meaning to write up an essay on why he's so fucking cool . File under Dealing with the Psychic Censor . He lived to almost a 100 and only died in 1997. You can find interviews with him on YT.

I wanted to talk about the psychic censer, something that will get you Every time, unless we learn about it sooner than later. I guess I was kind of going along chronologically in the earliest stages to get some of the foundation. Right after Liber MMM we get to the "Initiate" syllabi of both Black and White Magick, which in Carroll's view "cross over each other in strange ways". I hoped not to overlook that!

Shit! We almost need another thread devoted to it. I think it's core to so many attempt to get past it. McGilchrist is right, Western Civ is soaking in it - and and with many good things too, so no need to go back to the woods, go full tribal, and reject all of Modernity just to do magic.

So much touchiness and brittleness I feel are trying protect their personal if religiously-encoded whole-brain inner synthesis . I have a CM Morrison Hyper-sigil with the Demiurge and kind of NeoPlatonic Buddhism I use to meta-Everything but a lot of people's inner mythic framework is very delicate and they can get aggro. I also don't take it literally. But that is something I bring from Zen.

Chaos magic could be good medicine for so many of them , I feel.
Post automatically merged:

Dammit! I meant to add what I think this is the beauty of CM and some of Crowley's better writing.

No need to take it literally, but when I step into the circles I take everything very very literally. The myths are real. Also beware the myths you are living. They will come alive.

But the ritual is where takes a life of own. Then I step out and just let the effect roll in. So it's not required so wear all the magical kit or worse, a lifestyle costume like you going to RenFair, 24/7/365. I dislike Lifestyle magic where you have spend your days taking on the Magician Personality, or the Pagan Witch Personality. I like being just dude, who plays another dude, and that dude is WAY cooler than me. Fucking talks to demons and angels and legit Goddess and shit. And they hang out. He's cool. Me? I'm a schmo.

It is a Major stumbling block to get past, especially if you don't realize it in the first place. That, and the double sided coin of Black and White magick are foundational, and taught early on in Liber Null for good reason. I personally haven't seen a Better explanation/discussion of these than in Liber Null.

Love it! Please. You've been shepherding this tread and the Psychic Censor is tricky, and probably worth unpacking more, imho.

A possible sub-topic: The Psychic Censor is very Western Civ encoded , and one popular way to deal with it is to basically force feed it like a foie gras goose with plausible sounding scientific stories and models like Quantum Physics, and/or Panpsychism (one of my favs , if still very limited) - on the legit end - or comic book science like UAP's on the other. Both in an effort to just get it to STFU for a little bit. All good . Works! But also very fragile becasue it's still playing on the same left-brained Civ home team. Those get taken far too literally soon enough by the hyper-categorizing brain of the Schizo-Autistic Worldview.

When I started this thread and called it "Foundational Chaos" I realized that people with every level of understanding were going to look in here, some with helpful comments and some with WTF doe it All Mean! :ROFLMAO: I wanted to cover at least the very basic points Carroll thought anyone calling themselves an early member of the IOT would need in order to be somewhat competent from the get go. After that the thread will likely diverge into I have no goddamned idea what? His two syllabus treatment of White and Black Magick is one of the Best I've come across Anywhere! If someone knows of a better synopsis please let us all know.

I also realize that this is simply too much to try and cover here because anyone who really wants to know anything worthwhile is going to study and research on their own. This saves a great deal of trying to convince anyone. The "self starter" quality of wanting to do anything is inherent or not, you can suggest something but if someone doesn't Want to go there it's a waste of time.

I was hoping to have my hands full with this thread, be my guest with this one if you wish, or anyone else who thinks it would be worth their while.
I think I might be able to add something worthwhile to a thread like that.
