It's like Christianity came into the Super Bowl at half time and said 'we invented this game. Your rules are all wrong. We are taking your jerseys, keeping your helmets and changing the rules. Play it our way or we will cut off your heads. It was ours the whole time.'

What they did wasn't new though. Religion has been used as a reason for war and conquest as early as Sumaria. Rome was the massive turning point for Chritendom though.

I wonder if its fair to say pre codified Christianity was the Thelema of the times? Meaning a mish mash of synchretized beliefs.

This is a huge topic for another thread, but I suspect the Astro-Mysticism in the region was just the THING that was going on there (with some Semitic-Babylonian and Greek necromancy).

To get the picture it helps to re-imagine Alexandria as an ancient Mediterranean 1920's Parisian cafe culture. This was a super cosmopolitan and literate place. Everyone was hanging out and talking about traveling the Milky Way to get past the planetary "Fates" or haughty Star Demons.

It's like everyone was in the same room, raiding the Library of Alexandria, then running back to their ethnic barrios and rewriting the stories in their local myth vernacular. Catholicism (and here by that I mean the original Church before and after Constantine moved it to Constantinople) was just left holding the bag after the collapse of the Western part of the Empire.

Oh! I thnik this need saying.

But also no point freaking people out more.

That poor kid, Evara.

I did not have the heart to tell her - and scaring her or threatening her serve no purpose. I hope she comes back and readd with a clear emotions.

I feel very bad for whatever she is going through, and I really do not want to take away whatever threads she id holding onto for dear life.

The blackest of necromancy n hostile psychcoptahic envronments made me the magician I am today.

But once you evoke the daimons 'down' to an astral-etheic level , and if you get them riled up using New World soecery techniques, then nothing, and I mean nothing will get rid of them, or banish them if they are pissed off. And this include me. Not the LBRP, not your black-handed knife. Nothing. I have had powerful elder "pagans" try. I was told later by theri accosatesd the daimons just stepped through their wards and gods. They are relentless. Neo-Pagan gods, candles, and herbns will not stop shtem. No Christian God, no mirror boxes, nor lines of salt, holy water, nor crucifixes will stop them. They do not care about circles, they are just being nice.

Whatever they are, they are some very primal entites, and maybe (maybe) they beings left over from the Prinmal; Darkness. Dunno. Domn;t care. they are who they are. They can take pagan masks, but that does make them pagan. Whatever they are, they come from a time long long before all that late-stage myth.
