It is not necessary if you have some self-restraint. The classic sins (in my opinion..) all hinder your development / progress in some way.

Pride inflates your ego. Makes you imagine yourself capable of more than you can and will cause your fall.
Greed makes you obsessed with getting more than you need and afraid to spend when you need.
Lust / obsession with sex causes you to be overwhelmed and have no thought or motivation for anything beyond flesh.
Envy makes you spiteful, focused only on what others have instead of yourself.
Gluttony makes you slow in body and mind. Clogging up all your channels.
Wrath consumes you and will always seek a new target for you to hate.
Sloth makes you give up before starting.

I know what you mean. But there are many paths using what Christians call a sin. See Austin Osman Spare, Crowley and many more. Or Wicca. Indeed the concept of sin prevents you to fully be able to work on yourself.

I just do not want you to be partly blind in that important work. So I tell you.

Spoke with the Egyptian Gods and they told me that there are coming beings here that will try to get you on their side and the only thing you can do is find inner purity to escape them. They will try to do anything to get you on their side and once you are on their side you can not stop being on their side and just have to be enslaved by them. I can't promise that everyone survives this but there will be many fighting inside this War and the War will go on for a very long time. Might be that humanity will be taken and destroyed in a fast event, nobody knows. Might be that our galaxy will die out. But atleast we are ready to fight them. Inner purity and self-esteem is all that is needed to repel them.

I know of Crowley's point that there are to ways (with regards to these): one of restriction and the opposite being indulgence. As with most things, i think a healthy balance is the way.
If I understand correctly Crowley's view is that you can / should saturate your craving rather than starve it. That works (temporarily) with lust as it is destroyed through orgasm, but with the others it's a bit more difficult.

However. There are days when I eat more than I should, there are days when I hate, days when I don't feel like doing anything. Etc. Balance

Crowley tried to follow the ideas of S. Freud. Oh my, he got that so wrong very often. But yes, balance. A good idea, indeed.

If you really are into magick you need to be sinless to even be able to do Angel Magick alltogether. If you are not, then tough deal you will never get
Powers and so forth unless you go into demonology which might make you mad in the long run.

This is what I just proved to myself. Had to put some Angels to do the rest of the magickal operations just because I became full of sin.

Ok folks, this ended quite funnily. The Arch Angel Azrael made somekind of "angel player" which was a spirit that came into my body when I made this thread. Then it ended up saving the Arch Angels from something that I dare not speak about and ended up getting killed in nature. The thing that made me believe that I was an Arch Angel incarnation was because of the "angel player" being inside my body, which the Arch Angel hade made. Thought it was funny
