Best way to activate sigils in your opinion?

I have a few sigils. Never could get them to work.

One of them is tattooed on my chest is supposed to be for telekinesis (figured if it was directly on me it could draw from me... well at least it's decorative)

I read about charging sigils by putting them in your shoe and walking.

My intuition (as im rather inexperienced) has told me that ecstatic dancing, like truly dropping it to the floor like nobody is watching, would be a very powerful way to do this. And while typing this i intuited that somehow (this part is unclear, probably gazing) while making music would be good as well. For me that is music. Plus, with Apollo being one of my "patron" deities, it would be consecrated in a sense.
any creative process should work, and probably the shoe trick would work best in whatever physical exercise you most easily access that flow state of "like nobodies watching" - another thought i had when i thought up the dancing idea was mountain biking.

not to second, third, fourth and so on so many folks in this thread, but i've found that experimenting with different forms of destruction activation have been more my vibe. burning is probably the favorite for a lot of folks, but i've been fond of ripping paper sigils or using water in various ways. semi-recently i drew the sigil with salt in the bottom of a bowl and poured the water in and i feel that particular instance worked out quite well for the purpose i had in mind

interesting! i think that could be a very handy way to do it depending on the intent. i actually may have something in the chamber that would benefit from this- thank you!

Here are my three favorite sigil charging methods:

1. "Light from the Dark" ritual from "Magical Riches" by Damon Brand.
2. A linking sigil that gathers energy and then charges the sigil on your behalf.
3. Employing my familiars, spirit guides, higher self, etc.. to combine energies with me to charge the sigil.

Method of today: draw the sigil with a pencil on a paper, after gazing and visually let evaporating it in the air make a BIG pile of snow with your bare hands. Dig with your bare hands a hole in it. Put the little paper in it and close the hole with your bare hands. Feel the cold, feel the pain. Yep, did it more than once in my life. In the Netherlands we have lot of chances to do so today because of the snow we have now.

The method used can really depend on the purpose of the sigil. For example, when I use sigils for sleep poppets, I have them charge during the day in the sun, so that they can expend that energy to do their work at night. Since those sigils are active repeatedly, they are not destroyed. But when I was helping someone break a binding, the sigil was burned as part of burning away the bond. Do you need to dissolve something? Dissolve it in water. (I absolutely love the method that @crypthouse used of drawing the sigil in salt and then pouring water over to dissolve.) Sigil to get something to go away from you? Release it on the wind. etc etc etc

A very cop-out answer for me to give but: it varies. I've use many methods of charging, from the Sun and Moon to technomancy to more "suggestive " techniques. Depends a lot on what I'm charging and why and for what and when and also none of that matters at all but at the same time matters a lot.

And another method of activate a sigil that I did in the past with good results. You need good quality natural clay, pestle and mortar and an infusion of a herb that fits your magic. First make an amulet wherein you carve the sigil. The sigil has to be flat and thin enough to be breakable. Let dry the clay amulet in the sun. If it crackles a little bit, no problem.

Then, after drying, throw that amulet on the ground. Let it break. Before the throwing you really should feel the power and tension in your whole body, so build that up carefully from the centre of your body. Try to throw it in pieces on a day that matches your magic intent.

Then take all the pieces of the ground and put them in your mortar. Again build power and tension in your body, cling on your pestle and grind everything till powdered. If you want you can chant an incantation while doing that. Add a little of the herb infusion and form again clay from the powder, be careful with adding the moist to not overdo it. Make a little artwork of it. Put the dried artwork in a closet so you can't see it till you have had the result. Afterwards I destroy it, but that can be a personal thing.
