Interested to know if anyone uses any particular breathing techniques when meditating?

I have used some basic pranayama techniques within Raja yoga to enter pratyahara (withdrawal of senses) - deep/long inhale and exhales, but apart from the box breath technique commonly talked about in Western magical practices I haven’t come across much variation.

Anyone have any interesting experiences using breath in different ways with meditation?

When i m in meditation I usually don’t pay attention to the breath because I am „somewhere else“.

However, I do enjoy breathing exercises (especially outdoors in woods and forests) especially of the asymmetrical breathing rhythm kind. The most enjoyable rhythms for me are 16:8:16:8 and 16:12:16:12. They feel deeply relaxing.

Thanks ByAMountain, think I’ll play around with different rhythms. Will be interesting to see if the meditation hits deeper or different depending on the rhythm.
