Basically, yes. When you're doing magic, you're "making ripples" that attract curious spirits, some of them might agree to help. In my opinion it's good to make an offering if the ritual went well as a "thank you" (:

I suppose that could be a case of naming, yes. But in my experience powers don't have will, don't expect respect from you and can't get angry with you for not fulfilling your end of a bargain or not showing respect I mentioned. Spirits (or any other entities) do.
In my experience, a storm at sea or electricity carelessly handled can manifest very much like willful destruction. Same thing in both cases: infringe the etiquette/ignore the law and pay the toll. Could very well be my own persona is but an epiphenomenon superadded to "blind" forces.

For the record, many LHP magicians I envy due to their what seems easy skills. I don't respect the ones who want to marry whatever demon is popular in Hollywood.
Demons are a reflection of the divine, but seem very hostile toward humans, therefore I am simultaneously scared of and repulsed by them.
At the same time, it can't be all unicorns and rainbows, that good and evil must and do exist, so maybe that is what I am truly scared and repulsed of...the good and evil potential in all is us. Polarity.
I curse it often enough. Plead when the switch is balky. I'm not saying there are no spirits. I'm not saying all is blind force. I'm just that personalities are not central to magick. An unhealthy number of practitioners reify every errant impulse.
