I am doing a sociological research project for college about witchcraft practices in contemporary Europe. I wonder if it would be okay to post a link to my survey and if this would be the right section for it ? It is completely anonymous and insight from the community would be highly valued. :)

Hey there. Mabrika! (welcome) A few recommendations off the top of my head. Have you heard of author and practitioner " Harold Roth" ? He provides a lot of free or affordable information both some of his published books and foundation writing that's very informative on a site/ store he established in the community nearly 40 years ago. Some people in the community have bad mouthed him the community over gender themed issues nothing worth cancel culture as I'm NB and don't play into haters. It was more of a matter context I digress. Although, he no longer runs the site he has a younger couple that runs it now. The site is Alchemy_works.com. The web page has way more than just product to offer. The free information itself is very valuable. Just explore it for a bit and see. A decent book of his that has some of the subject matter in detail is " The witching herbs ( 13 essential plants and herbs for your magical garden.) You might mistakenly believe its just another how to book but WRONG when it comes to Harold's writings he doesn't just get into the instructions he gives you an education sermon along the way first . Like sometimes you need to know the why before you do something. He gets into history names practices and is very inclusive of Europe among other places which originally may have influenced Europe and continue to in modern day practices. Now my claim isn't that Harold is an answer to all per say but, he can absolutely provide you with some rabbit hole doors if you will in regarding the basics of magic systems ranging from Greek, Jewish mysticism to European witchcraft. Also, fun fact the guy sorta looks like a real life Haggard from Harry Potter wizard beard and all. Anyways, I hope this opens some doors for you. Good luck , happy hunting & tia karaya (Good Moon/ Good night)

Perhaps it is good to reach and talk someone of the moderator team to ask if it is permitted to post surveys. You can find them with the next 3 accounts, or you can self report your message with that question:

@SkullTraill @Yazata @HoldAll

And it is permitted I think it would be neat if you explain what you exactly are researching, what your thesis is and why you are researching it. What is your background as a student or researcher? Witchcraft practices in contemporary Europe can be such a broad topic which can involve a lot (or even not) because of the fact that people mostly self identify witchcraft. Witchcraft itself is a paradox, it is almost not possible to define it. Think of a spectrum instead of a defined praxis. If you can't get a clear definition of witchcraft it is quite possible that you cannot define your thesis very well. Good luck with your survey.

It’s fine but you need to be transparent and disclose the purpose of the study in full, which you are obligated to do anyway if this is truly an academic pursuit.
