Hi all!

I need help with getting back into practice - the thing is, in the last three or so years I lost alignment to any and all things spiritual. I've been pulled to traditional demonolatry and cornish witchcraft lately, but I realize that these things are more advanced that my current condition lets me dip my toes into.
I believe that I used to have some abilities like clairvoyance and clairsentience, but I'm not even sure anymore, looking back.
I want to practice protective spells and also get to know if Ihave any chance at recognizing if the Entities I want to contact/worship are acknowledging my existence, but I'm not entirely sure how to do it "by the book", since I sometimes have trouble understanding what some specific terms mean, due to english not being my first language (also I find it hard to trust my gut).

Could you guys share some tips on how to safely walk this path as a "reborn" practitioner? How did you navigate back when you began? How did it feel and what to expect?
Funny anecdotes and storytimes are greatly appreciated, I want to keep my thoughts on this as lighthearted and without pressure to do things perfectly on the first try, at least for now while I still educate myself before hands - on spellcasting. Let me know if any of this even makes sense, as I said, sometimes I mix english up a little.

Have a great day wherever you are and I can't wait to hear from you!

Begin anew with one thought in mind played at higher volume and often repeated:

"Maybe I'm wrong."

Search out the truth of things with sincerity. How much of your understanding and former practices were based on things you had thoroughly understood? Maybe part of why it went squirly before was a result of misunderstandings or mistakes.

When you being to practice something again, I assume you mean rituals and meditations and so on, maybe begin with what you know rather than what you'd like to know. If you feel that you are exploring meditation, or spirits, maybe retrace your steps and go back to something more basic even than that.

But above all find new and better sources of inspiration. I dont mean literature alone, but definitely that. Be inspired by new things and dont feel a need to cram them into a coherent understanding of any of this. There is no complete or standard sort of curriculum for any of this, we are all explorers and experimenters, you just do what you feel comfortable doing and you are still doing which is better than the people who don't.

I have a personal rift in my practice between 2013-2018 and late 2020-present, where I had a personal Chinese buddhist phrase as funny as it is to say that an Arab guy tried to wholeheartedly practice chinese buddhism.

I did stop my initial practices of occultism and did take up an intense buddhist meditative practices, but I needed that "rift" between my somewhat chaos-oriented/grimoire-ish practice to come back to it. To say the least, me before 2018 and me after 2020 are two different magical phases where that pause or break from the occultism and magic as a whole was needed. I am not saying that you have to read Nan Huai-Chin or practice Zhunti/Cundi Dharani to achieve similar things haha.

When I came back in 2021 back into practice I found that my practice have grown a bit stale and I couldn't get it on as funny as it sounds like an erectile dysfunction. I would say that thing that got me more committed and going was an online blog, and an online blog isn't there for other people to see as much as it is for you to see that thing you're doing. You become the audience, the performer, and the stage all at once, not everyone would find this useful but I kept at it in tumblr and kept just posting my workings, my journal, my thoughts, etc. In a way you want somewhere where you can dump your thoughts and dump your practical knowledge so you can come back to it later, maybe the Journal section here is a good idea.

The three things I would say are a good starters for all of this is the following:
  1. Ancestral Veneration
  2. Daily Guardian Angel Prayer(Morning and Night)
  3. Arbatel

Ancestral Veneration is the equivalent of plugging electricity to the house, you can have all the spirits and all the stuff happening in your magical "house", once you connect with the ancestors it is like calling the electricity company and asking them to connect electricity to the house. Suddenly the light turns on, your microwave turn on, and you can sleep with AC or heater.

I wouldn't say go balls to the wall with HOLY GUARDIAN ANGEL, just daily grind of guardian angel prayers. Day in and day out, there's no need to make a big deal out of it except that you will start drifting that's a good thing. A slow small drift toward your own spiritual center point is better than a be-all sudden lighting flash appearance of your guardian angel.

Arbatel....It is a simple grimoire, with a lot of work to be done and great depth to the spirits and their teachings. Keep your initial practice lean and simple, easy to do but scalable and you can always expand on it. What else is there to do? keep some sponantenous play to it, maybe call it serious playfulness or playful seriousness? in 2015 I was a on a walk with my friend back from mosque then I grabbed a stone to bless it for his business, I squeezed the king's scale of jupiter/Chessed light into it and then his business went down for next few months. Turned out we were "giving prosperity" to people around him instead toward his food stall...the end result we threw the rock at a tree and it also died in a few months.

To end my post with Arbatel's Aphorism 36:

Care is to be taken, that experiments be not mixed with experiments; but that every one be onely simple and several: for God and Nature have ordained all things to a certain and appointed end: so that for examples sake, they who perform cures with the most simple herbs and roots, do cure the most happily of all. And in this manner, in Constellations, Words and Characters, Stones, and such like, do lie hid the greatest influences or vertues in deed, which are in stead of a miracle.

So also are words, which being pronounced, do forthwith cause creatures both visible and invisible to yield obedience, aswel creatures of this our world, as of the watry, aëry, subterranean, and Olympick supercelestial and infernal, and also the divine.

Therefore simplicity is chiefly to be studied, and the knowledge of such simples is to be sought for from God; otherwise by no other means or experience they can be found out.

For me I started my practices in college, I was walking in the night for exercise and just felt, I felt the air look at the sky and new I could do something. I was reading the works of Crowley at the time. If was to start again with my practices from scratch I would go on more evenings strolls, feel the grass between my toes the cold night air in my lungs. I believe a exploration of the senses can really help one get into a "spiritual grove" go feel something you haven't in a while, go stand in the rain with out a umbrella go taste something you haven't before, perhaps it will give you some inspiration, let you get a feeling of the spirits around you.
