You are not first person here who keeps coloring their posts and thinks it cool and self-expresive. It keeps angering me for some time now. You were just last drop. I really don't want to bother with selecting entire texts every time I want to read.
I feel like the fact that a benign aspect of the reality you live in causing you anger is more of a you thing than anything else? the nearly white text on the dark background searing into my retinas hurts a bit but it doesn't make me
angry, it's just a fact of life and i accept that - if you can't then i'm sorry for you, but i'd rather not limit myself when i have tacit permission to express myself
Also, your HW is not the norm, nor are your eyes. A lot of people actually have slightly limited color seeing, some have noticeable limitations, some rare cases are colorblind. What will you tell to them?
(i assume HW means hardware) this laptop is actually pretty old and i also checked on my computer monitor and my phone and they all look like they have reasonable contrast.
it is true that many people have colour deficiency to some degree, but blue colour deficiency/anomaly/blindness is more rare than others, and even without that, the colour i was using would still stimulate brightness detecting rod cells even if there were colour anomaly present and the blue is of a higher brightness than the background, the value for the blue is practically 3 times brighter than the background, so your eyes should still be able to see it to some degree, are you sure your system settings have your screen calibrated correctly?
what will i tell them?
double check your screen is calibrated correctly, check your browser/system's theme settings, and if needed due to colour blindness/anomaly, get a contrast app/plugin as that will just make your life easier all over the internet, not just on 1 forum with like, 2 people expressing a freedom that is granted to them
My intention with this is that the texts on the forum should be easy to read and approachable to everyone. I'm an artist myself and honestly, the way of art that makes things harder for other people is art I do not respect.
and as i mentioned above, i feel as though the silver text has
too high a contrast for my eyes, even with my lowered brightness settings, it actually burns my retinas a bit, so what about people like me? should i feel burning in the back of my eyes any time i want to try and double check what i've written?
how about trying to find a message written by somebody else at a glance? sure pfp's exist, but a block of text is less easy to miss when scrolling and having a unique colour and font to look for can expedite the process
i am also a visual artist, i also really enjoy getting into the philosophy of aesthetics and differing fields of thought on art-
"the way of art that makes things harder for other people is art i do not respect"
that's your opinion and that's fine, but personally i enjoy art that challenges, art that can be difficult to swallow, even art that can be painful sometimes, because the world we live in can be just those things, and if art is to reflect our feelings, or truth in the reality we find ourselves in, then it should be able to reflect most any kind of truth, no?
but maybe we just have differing philosophies on this and i think that's fine, but i do think you're putting a lot of stake into something that ultimately isn't actually hurting anybody
