Hello everyone.

I have come across a bit of an issue at home and I’m struggling on which way to go with things so I’d appreciate any input that any of you are able to offer.

After many years of reading, in the last few months, I’ve been inspired to carry out some simple workings by re-reading Advanced Magic for Beginners. I’ve been blown away by the results for what, prior to reading this approach, I’d have considered - probably in my ignorance - simplistic and silly. I’m now at the point where I’m looking to carry out more complex workings and begin to meditate more and dive deeper.

The issue is my family. My wife is very anti all things occult and has no idea that my interest in such things, which she knew I was interested in when we met two decades ago, has continued.

I know it’s best to be open about these things but my practice has to be private. Has anyone found any practical workarounds for making this part of your life and routine, alongside a more mundane existence with a family who simply don’t get it or are distressed - for reasons beyond me - at the whole concept?

Thanks.

Practices that are more inner than outer are very easy to hide, the arbatel for example all you need is prayer and a drawn sigil. or small candle stuff that can be explained that you like the light or something. Also you can use magic to changer her mind to it or simply make her not question you. or even make your practices "invisible"/harder to notice

My practice is very affected by the fact that I don't live alone. My companion doesn't mess with a little bookshelf that has a cover and has my altar and tarot cards in it. Maybe you can't hide thing but can say that this or that corner is yours and shouldn't be messed with. A person can be very anti magic but respect you and your right to be different, specially if you live with them.
