@SkullTraill - Just to make sure I don't run afoul of any rules (I'm looking at the Rules thread now, so I don't think so...)

In the new thread I plan to start that is a place for a long string of remote viewing practice targets and session data, I would like to link to a couple resources that are not on WF. A specific reddit post that is the /r/remotevewing FAQ post, the /r/remoteviewing Beginner's Guide (I wrote a version of this years ago, it's since been updated and is even better, I'm so proud of them!), and link to another site with practice targets, probably Lyn Buchanan's Intuitive Specialist Target Pool. I would also link to a site to get SHA-265 hashes.

Since I've been given warnings before for linking to things outside WF, I just want to check first that this is OK. All these resources are held in high regard and are associated with the professional and legitimate remote viewing community.

For the new thread, the structure would be a first post with links and an explanation of how to task targets and how to post session data. We would ask that people use the spoiler tag to hide their session data so other people looking for targets don't accidentally see it. For the target itself, to maintain consistency, I would ask people to take the exact text of their tasking and paste it into a SHA-265 hash and post that under a spoiler with the target. This will validate that the target, when revealed, has been the same the whole time without risking it being posted anywhere and spoiling the session. Target reveal posts should come about a week after the target post goes up, regardless of how many people attempted the target.

If there's any problems or concerns or questions, please let me know.

Solution
Firstly, the place for this type of question is in the website help section. Not some other random thread.

Secondly, yes that would be allowed as long as whatever link you post:
  • IS NOT a web page selling a product or service
  • DOES NOT itself contain any links to another page selling a product or service
  • IS NOT malicious/malware
  • DOES NOT contain adult content
  • IS NOT a forum (if it is reach out to me I’ll approve the link if the content is of high value)

Thanks for your response - I figured the context was relevant which is why I asked as part of the other thread, for your reference. Sorry for not putting this question in the right spot.

The main problem is that many practice target pools are hosted by professional remote viewers who themselves sell books or training or services. They're listed as resources in the reddit FAQ. I'll review links again for their beginner's guide. But the link from a link rule is going to take some work. Not complaining about the rule, I get it. I just hadn't ever thought about the secondary level aspect.

If you want, PM me for manual approval of those types of links. If the content is valuable I’ll allow it.

Thanks. What I think will make the most since as this is all internal to WF, is that I'll just copy and paste the text from the beginner's guide and FAQ into 2 threads in the appropriate section (astral projection) and strip out the problematic links. I'll give credit to the subreddit and authors.

Personally, having just got a warning for posting links to SUBJECT MATTER I'm talking about, the subject matter and not any sales link, I find this rule to be a bit restrictive and puts the user at a huge disadvantage.
I'm not selling things, so I didn't interest myself in Marketplace rules. Then I find out that it is part of posting links, whether that is just supportive of your conversation or not. So now we, the users, have to know if a website has any links to sell things, or if the informational website has any market items for sale, etc. Pretty silly rule.
This should only apply if a link is made to a product that is for sale, not for any web link to any site that might actually sell things on the side. The Internet is full of everything for sale, on every page. So sticking your head in the sand is not the answer.
How cognitively impaired is this rule?
Post this rule clearly right up front, and not in some special marketplace section, or stop with the warnings and just correct the post with a nice message to the user.
That is just totally beyond any realistic expectation of the average user to know about such a silly rule.
You might as well just say, no links to anything outside the forum except for our illegal book sharing links to META, or links to the horrible sales website Amazon, run by that blood sucking billionaire loser...
What kind of website are you running here?
I could care less what the Internet has for sale. I'm sure nobody on here cares what those linked pages have for sale. They do likely care about the information they can get from these websites.
We can't even go back and edit our own posts, or fix those links, and you just throw warnings at us without even making us aware of the rule we broke, or what link you think broke that rule.
So, get it together here. Your site is already practicing illegal activity, then you want to just act all high and mighty and try to control and steer a free marketplace with these restrictions?
How about you stop warning people without even saying what part of their post is related to the warning?
How about you kindly just correct the posting and send the user a friendly reminder of your rules?

You guys have some serious issues. I doubt I will stick around, or give this site any thumbs up at this point.

The moment someone visits the link you posted "Shop" is right at the top.

I find this rule to be a bit restrictive and puts the user at a huge disadvantage.
Ok, cool. Make a suggestion thread.

I'm not selling things, so I didn't interest myself in Marketplace rules.
That sounds like a you problem.

So now we, the users, have to know if a website has any links to sell things
It's not that hard to check the main navigation of the link you're posting to see if it has a shop? Why are you posting links to pages that you don't know?

This should only apply if a link is made to a product that is for sale
No.

The Internet is full of everything for sale, on every page.
Also no.

How cognitively impaired is this rule?
A guy who started foaming at the mouth, struggling to string a coherent sentence together, and spamming reports and PMs out of pure rage that they got a internet warning on a forum... has the audacity to speak of cognitive impairment? Look at yourself, acting like a damn fool.

Post this rule clearly right up front, and not in some special marketplace section, or stop with the warnings and just correct the post with a nice message to the user.
Probably the only thing of value you've said to me. I'll consider it, make a suggestion thread.

That is just totally beyond any realistic expectation of the average user to know about such a silly rule.
Is it? Or are you just below average?

You might as well just say, no links to anything outside the forum
No, I might as well not.

I could care less what the Internet has for sale.
You certainly care about this warning though?

We can't even go back and edit our own posts,
This has been explained before, at great length.

and you just throw warnings at us without even making us aware of the rule we broke, or what link you think broke that rule.
What... do you think a warning is...?

Warnings literally exist for this purpose...

steer a free marketplace
What free marketplace?

How about you kindly just correct the posting and send the user a friendly reminder of your rules?
That. Is. What. A. Warning. Is.

I doubt I will stick around
And literally nobody cared.

The end.

I likely can't even respond to this, or your rude comments.
But, if this is what the "moderation" of this website is all about, I can't support it or even say much except "wow" what a bunch of losers you are.
Rude, incompetent, and a$$holes on top of that.
I'll be leaving, and making sure to report your illegal activities to the authorities that can and will shut you down.
Stop pissing people off, you moron.

Warned: Off topic
I have to say, engaging in petty arguments with users is not a good look for staff or moderators, no matter the site. I understand that dealing with emotions is a challenge everybody faces, but as someone in a position of power in a community extra care needs to be taken. @SkullTraill In the future, when dealing with criticism, I would recommend writing out your response, but not posting it, then after an hour or so re-read it and delete anything insulting or that doesn't give the impression that you are a calm and collected moderator, the entire post if need be.

Bye bye
Now, Yazata, another moderator, is giving it a thumbs up, like a bunch of preschoolers bullying users.
The moderators are obviously all hateful trolls with an agenda. Can't wait to see you get taken offline for copyright violations.
