There is a man who frequents a spot that I hag out with my friends at. He is a self proclaimed energy vampire and deeply into the occult. I believe he is trying to interfere with my dreams and to “visit me” in the astral realm. I’ve never experienced a person taking deliberate actions against me in this way. Any advice for bolstering my defenses?

Drain him dry. If there is something Vampires have real problem with it is if someone takes away their energy. The connection is always two way and if you control your end with iron will, you can cause them quite a problem. I was visited by astral vamps who were thirsty for me. When I started draining them, they ran away. Prey like me was not worth the trouble for them.

Could be someone in your circle of friends is letting him in energetically and because you are part of the same group/energetically entangled, that's how he gains access to you.
But this is just me guessing.
I recommend doing a card reading on this.

This sounds 'icky'.
Is it 'safe' to pull from such negative energy? I dont even like being around it let alone touching it.

I admit that it does sound strange. But you have to choose whether you are going to be a cat or a mouse.

I never took much energy from any vampire before they ran away and cut all connections with me. If you are not experienced with energy practice it is very unlikely that you will take too much. And honestly, whenever you are close to him, your auras exchange energy anyway. Which is why you don't like to be around him, I guess.

It is just my advice, you can skip it completely, it is far from being the only effective way to deal with the situation.

Okay but did you do specifically what I suggested , especially with the mirroring ?
and do you want defense or attack ? One needs to get clear on such issues . I nearly never attack ,,, in magic or martial arts ; I tend to first evade and inevitably the other , in their attack will create an 'opening ' where they are vulnerable to 'repulsion' .

In times of extreme action needed .. and I mean rarely, when serious action is needed on the offence ; eg ; a murderer on the loose that had killed some little Aboriginal kids and sent the whole area into unbalanced chaos with undercurrent of black occult neo-Nazi shit ( and BEWARE of 'splash back' * ) I used an adaption of the curse segment from the Rite of Saturn and have worked the ritual around that as the central invocation.
