I want to learn how to properly do spirit evocation, I know the basics and I also know that won't do. Unfortunately, I live in a city without any type of group that -at least openly- works with the occult, and I've tried to find people in the esoteric stores, in uni, and in social media to no avail. The only religion im initiated into is Catholicism, so I cant learn from there the things I want to. So how do i learn? I know practice is a big part of it, but i want to make sure I know what I'm doing before actually doing. Help

Evocation is calling the spirit to appear and work for you. Invocation relates to assuming the characteristics and, by association, powers from a deity or maybe other entity. Invocation is a preliminary step for many methods of evocation, since you fisrt have to assume and invoke the power of God before you call and command spirits/demons. If you decide to go by the traditional methods, you will discover the process is much more religious than one might expect

As recomendattions:
Demons of magick from Gallery of magick
Claves intelligentiarum
Claves Spiritum
Aleister's Crowley Illustrated Goetia
The Goetia of dr Rudd

Those terms get a bit blurry when you look under the hood, but I guess SeekerPS gave you a solid summary. What kind of experience do you exactly want to achieve, may I ask?

Something like more intense in feeling maybe? Ive done spirit communication through pendulum with an elemental, but i guess I'm craving that experience of something more complex. Per example I would love to have a conscious experience with Hekate more than just in dreams

That's I suppose more like what is usually called invocation. I think the most reliable are the Jungian-adjacent methods, so based on lending a part of your consciousness to another personality summoned from the depths of your psyche. If you've done any successful divination you likely already have some practice, perhaps unknowingly. The trick is in that whatever you contact with that pendulum usually guides what questions you as at least as much as what answers you get. I don't know what your prefered aesthetics are, so I'll refrain from making any specific suggestions, but try developing an awareness of the different personalities that inspire your thoughts and actions. Hypnagogic and daydream-adjacent states of mind are also usually very helpful. Now, this way (in my opinion in any other approach as well) you can only contact what's already in some sense "of you" or "inside you". So, for example, not whatever Hekate herself is but rather her ambassador in your inner court that speaks in her name. Additionally with Hekate in particular there is a number of subtle complexities that result from her being a god - a very specific category of spirits, as it turns out - but that might not come into play immediately.

Personally, I think it can sometimes be dangerous, especially if the would-be medium has spiritually vulnerable weak areas. In fact, just speaking generally, the average person taking a stroll in the dark most often trips up. Not something I would do myself and I have a few years experience - my gran once being a medium.
Many years ago, the mediums used an Indian guide, often a Red Indian, which was part of the tradition.

Well, it can be dangerous just as anything else, right? I think if you know what you are doing and with who you'll be doing it and you make sure to make it the correct way there shouldn't be much problem, of course things that weren't planned can happened, but i think i prefer taking the risk instead of forever wondering what could've happened if I had done it

Well, I think that to be wise requires a great deal of courage, and confident knowledge is the foundation of spiritual work. Evocation—whether of an entity internally through thought and the third eye—differs from summoning that entity to manifest in the physical world. It requires determination, patience, and endurance to withstand the duration of the evocation, and I believe that whichever method is used, it requires some basic information:
These are some of my powerful Eastern practices for warding off evil, fortifying a place, and purification as well.

To understand the science of evocation, we must realize that it is not merely a matter of writing laminas or pentagrams on animal hide or virgin parchment; rather, it depends on the correspondences between you and the spirits. There is a specific astrological sign for your birthday, and the spirits that are closest to and most compatible with this sign—which is the astrological secret in evocation—are the ones that can be summoned. To bring down the powerful celestial forces into earthly forms, one must have knowledge of incense. , the metals, and the earthly conduits. The sages of the East say that knowing the secrets and workings of the spirits is half the journey toward them…
Here is a link to the explanation of Eastern-Western harmonization, which is the standard relied upon in all matters in the East. From here

I have a few thoughts on this topic. I find it fascinating personally. First, I think we blur the shit out of terms in this thing we call the Occult (why not? I mean the only things we care about are exact candle colors, moon phases and Latin words. jokes! 😂).

Invocation to some is allowing the spirit to come through your psyche, and some mean it is just in your direct area. Some mean evocation as full bodied manifestation, others mean evocation to mean manifest in the spiritual in your direct area. These aren’t small differences. When the same terms mean different things to different people, and nobody makes their meaning clear, learning gets harder than it needs to be.

Your framework matters much more than you think it does. Does your personal framework align with the ritual system you are trying to operate in? Your framework matters, and it just might be the very thing that helps you make actual contact.

To me, invocation is very personal. I have only allowed 2 demons though me via invocation. Its intimate and I choose. It can be vastly different from person to person, so try to hold all of this with an open hand, as your experience will be unique to you. How you view this is your choice.

I have heard folks say repeatedly that invocation is easier than evocation. I have Aphantasia so for me evocation is a bit different. Since I cannot visualize at all, if I 'see' something (third eye), it's way harder to argue with. I cant imagine then visualize a specific thing, so for me its pretty cut and dried. Every single teacher I have worked with and most of the spirits I have worked with I have experienced via evocation, invocation builds upon that contact and relationship. That's just me though.

For me evocation feels less intimate because I experience it as apart from me, rather than in or through me. Nothing in spirit conjuration is guaranteed. That said, evocation isn't that hard. You are just calling the spirit into your space. Pay attention to everything around you. I experience it as voltage (whether demon, angel or deity) physically. Im not you, so take that for what its worth. it might help to divorce yourself from the idea of having to "See" a spirit for it to be present. Sometimes the spirit can be there and you cant see it, maybe just feel its presence or hear its voice. Those count too, dont be so quick to discount an experience, or call it a failure if it doesn't go exactly the way you envisioned, or hoped it would go.

Give it time and be patient. Spirits, in my experience, aren't out there just waiting for someone to evoke/invoke them. They have other spirit shit to do. Stay after it. Choose the spirit you want to try it out with and actually try it out. The books can be great, but remember, they are only maps, not the terrain. Our experiences, even mine are only maps for you.

Take what helps and burn the rest. I truly hope you have an actual encounter!!

I really appreciate you sharing your experience! I would love to hear more details about it if youre open to that (no problem if not, since for you its such an intimate thing I would understand wanting to keep that for yourself) anyways thanks for sharing!

Most people have psychological weaknesses, myself included. It helps to be aware of those particular areas.
I know my grandmother was a very gifted psychic who literally saw spirits all the time. At some point various mediums tried to recruit her in some way. I sometimes wonder, though, if a lot of the unhappiness in my family history could have some roots in my grandmother's experimentations. I myself was virtually haunted by all sorts of scary spirit phenomena. Looking back, I was sensitive but very unaware and what I call wide open. These days, I'm very grounded and hopefully in control, especially because I gained self knowledge (the hard way).
If I wanted to tap into medium experimentation, I believe I could do. I already gained ability to hypnotise effectively as a natural process. As I gather, the medium is blanking the psyche to function as a receiver. This practice goes back to the vates in pagan Rome, or boys who stared into water. It's just my personal preference, however, not to go in that direction. Mine was not a happy family.
