I do not know much about the LHP but would like to learn more at the very least.

My concern is that I had a Christian upbringing and am wary of it as a whole if not downright fearful of certain aspects (or perceived aspects) so I have a couple of questions.

What are some good ways to "de-program" myself from being fearful of the LHP?

Where should I start if I want to learn more about the LHP specifically?

I had a similar experience too. Being raised Christian tainted my experience with Wicca to the point that I quit witchcraft for years afterwards swearing I would never touch the occult again!! Ten years later I rejoined 😂 I would say that what would have helped me, especially in my case being a marginalized person in Christianity, is that there is a difference in perspective, practice and experience which a novice doesn’t have. It’s best to study before straight up heading into certain areas of the occult, i.e., demonology or what i call “spiritism”. What I’ve previously learned about it through Christianity can give you really bad experiences, so just studying, reading and talking to others really helps.

I also think people automatically think the LHP is demonology, and it’s not, they’re two different ways of practicing – many LHP people can be atheist, as an example, and others agnostic, so spiritism can be more individualized, psychological or not used at all depending. These are things that I didn’t know when I just joined Wicca which contributed to my bad experiences. One thing to keep in mind is that you’re in control and when you’re not you need to learn how to get it back.
