I’ve been reading a lot about babalon and I was curious if anyone who has experience working with her would have advice for a woman looking to approach her. Any book or ritual recommendations or any other tips would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance and blessed be. :)

Hiya. I'm a Babalon devotee. I got my start with practicing the 77-day invocation of Her known as the

. I found to be a seriously transformative experience when I first completed it, and it is hard work I won't lie, but persevering I've found can bring wonderful results. I cannot recommend it enough.

Aside from that there are a lot of texts out there. Peter Grey's The Red Goddess I found to be informative when I first started, but some of his outlook on women generally is a little questionable in my opinion. Other than that, Georgia Van Raalte is a known authority in Babalon study and gnosis. She some books containing essays and poetry that are worth checking out. There is also A Rose Veiled In Black, a collection of various essays from different practitioners that is essential reading. And of course, some of the Thelemic holy texts such as Liber Cheth vel Vallum Abiegni, and sections of Vision And The Voice.

I wish you luck! Babalon is a sublime goddess to work with, and unlike many others in my experience. She feels a lot more elusive, her expressions being very unconscious in many ways, but is also a very physically embodied deity which will put you in your body. I'm more than happy to discuss more about Her and answer any questions. :)

That's amazing! I'm so excited for you. All I will say is be earnest and make sure you stick to it! It is a lot of work, doing the same ritual every day for 77 days in a row. It's no light feat. There will be days when you really don't want to do it, you'll feel tired and overwhelmed, especially with the mantra, and especially when mundane life can be hectic. But keep going, because by the time you reach the end it can be incredibly transformative. Each day is like getting closer and closer to Her. I recommend supplementing the ritual with reading about Her as you progress.

I'll also say don't worry about memorising everything. The mantra will naturally come over time but if you want to try memorise that ahead of time that can help, but don't worry if you need to refer to the text regularly either way. As long as you're earnest, you'll benefit from the ritual, She will see you.

Honestly, I might join you with this, it's been a little while since I did the Call. Traditionally it was performed leading up to the day of Winter Solstice, but can be performed at any period. Maybe I'll do it alongside you!

Ah, one other thing I would suggest is some sort of simple banishing ritual in your space prior to performing the rite itself. A standard LBRP would be fine. :)
