I thought the topic of this thread was books that were being banned (but in reality are simply being withheld from young children)
But it seems neither one of you bothered to listen to the quotes. Just be angry at those mean Christians..
My part was about the false assumption that these same people, who are making the bans, are mostly White Christian Nationalists who thump children on the head with that horrible book, and brainwash them using this book full of hatred and division, incest, murder, genocide and more, with threats and usually fear of hell. This is the ultimate of the pot calling the kettle black. Some of these same folks are slowly being arrested for child porn, incest, rape, murder, abuse and more. There is a huge failure in what they think they stand for, and most of them are horrible and abusive parents that should be in jail.
The point is actually;
There is nothing wrong with making certain books age-appropriate only, and putting them in a section that you can't enter. And you can't even check them out unless you are old enough.
There is also nothing wrong with making parents responsible for parenting, and not forcing the rest of the public to face banned printed materials because of your own bad parenting or bad management of a library. Banning books is plain and simple NAZI FASCIST BS.
In addition, creating any law because of your own religion should make that religion banned in the USA, because we separate church and State here, for a reason. We can't let one cult or the other try to create bans and laws based on some hate and division cult idea. We are not an oppressed Nation that belongs to any Abrahamic cult, and we will fight back when people try to introduce that sick idea.
Aren't the current riots in Abrahamic cult countries enough for people to see what happens when you lead with religious zealots?
If you let them ban things now, they won't stop until they control the media and free speech. It is that, and not the whining baby, poor me, Christian issues, where they think they need special protections so they can continue to force this sick and twisted agenda of hate and division on the rest of the planet, while calling it love thy neighbor.
The idea of these books falling in the hands of children is plainly a supervision problem, which is a library or parent problem, and not something that should ever lead to banning books of any kind. Anything leading to a ban needs to be fought immediately, with extreme prejudice.
And, if we are banning books, let's start with the Bible, the Koran, and any other book that has caused so much war and death, and stop worrying about sexual items that children got from the Internet long before any library visit.
