Ah I noticed that I never replied to this post before. I practice a lot connected to different religions.
I follow a rather strange mixture, I guess most people do not do it like this. I have taken something from different paths, Christianity and Islam. Something from both Catholicism and Orthodoxy. Prayers, duas, verses, dhikr (mantra equivalent) from Islam. Hesychasm and akathists, liturgy materials from Orthodoxy, novenas and rosary from Catholicism. Saint work from both. Then something from Judaism. Interests include the Kabbalah. It's an odd mixture for sure.
Occasionally I work with the mantras from Buddhism. All kinds of them, I might experiment with something new every now and then.
I take what is useful and discard the rest. Generally I like to study and read about experiences, religions, religious practices, always interested in studying something new. Books, documentaries, reading online.
For energy work, getting into interesting altered states and using all these methods to perform rituals, they are effective. I've been messing with everything for a very long time. Sometimes the mantra readings take entire days.
It was not always so though, I grew up in a family where we did not do anything religious at all, in fact we never spoke about religious stuff at all. There were followers of Protestant Christianity and Orthodoxy before me, generations ago. Some of the ancestors were very devout religious people. I always had a great interest in esoteric stuff, mysticism, occult, religions, spirituality in general, already when I was a small kid. The desire was always there, a huge desire, then at some point I went wild with it all.
I view all these as paths, different paths. The rather odd mixture works great for me, I like it this way.
