As my standard way to go, I prefer to ask my questions (and for any querent to ask theirs, for that matter) as "What is the best course of action to achieve my desired outcome?", I find that asking about the future tends to act like a self-inflicted curse if the cards are less than positive. Besides, I prefer to think of the future as non-fixed in general.
